Anyone know how to disable the rear window controls on my Key FOB? Several times I have gotten up in the morning and my back window has been down all night, once when we had a heavy rain. I tried gluing the button so you can't press it but over time it started working again.

Don't believe you can keep the fob from controlling them but I could be wrong. You can't just stop what ever it is your doing?? :notsure:

Thing is I walk around the house with my keys in my pockets and I have no idea when it happens.

I want to know the same thing. Never used it except by accident. I'm drying out the floor boards right now because the rear window was down last night during a major storm. Didn't know it until this morning. I park on a hill so the water flowed all the way to the front seat floor. I might super glue the button on the FOB.

I tried super glue, doesn’t work. Only thing I can think of is buying new key fob housings that does not have the rear window button.

dealership can disable code on remote. I had them enable mine to open with a push of the button.

I live in Brooklyn, NY . I'm a tradesman and I use a 2003 4Runner to go from job to job...I came out 4 weeks ago on a Monday morning (after not using the 4Runner for 48 hours). The rear window was open and $1000 worth of tools were gone (a crime of opportunity upon finding that rear window open. I checked the rear window when walking away and it was closed). I replaced all my tools and have been trying to park it within visibility from my home windows. I looked at the 4Runner about 1am last night, it was fine and I went to sleep. I awoke about 7 am and looked out the window THE REAR WINDOW WAS OPEN....I ran out of the house panic stricken...everything I replaced was MIRACULOUSLY still there... I think someone else's transmitter is unintentionally opening my rear window.... Any easy way to change the frequency that opens that rear window? Any suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks in advance...

I've had it happen on my '04 T4R and our '99 Sienna with the power door. I stopped carrying the keys in my pocket and that solved the problem. When I get home I check the hatch window before going inside and the keys go on the hook and stay there. Part of my getting ready for bed routine is to lock the doors from inside the house where I can see the brake lights flash.

You might try popping open the fob and see if you can remove the plastic button. If not I'd try putting a thick piece of plastic over it (like the kind they use for blister packaging) and then duct tape over the top of it a few times.

Thanks for the input...This has never happened before in the 3 years I've owned this 4runner. I am using a new transmitter and the rear window open button may be more sensitive. I did drop the keys coming into the house both times. That could have triggered this new more sensitive remote...

On some remotes you can split the case and put tape or something non- conductive between button and contact

I upgraded to a DEI/Viper alarm and remote start and I no longer need to worry about that feature...my OEM keys are thrown in a drawer now...problem free for the last 8 years!
