Does it happen if you have the air control on recirculate?

Might be worth taking the cabin filter out and feeling at the bottom of the squirrel cage fan housing for wetness. If so, that would make me suspect the water is getting in through cabin air intake under the cowl. It’s quick to check, anyway.

Hi Guys I want to check the end of the moon roof drain filters on both sides. To remove the carpet there are two weird looking bolts holding down the corners of the carpet/side cowl on driver and passenger sides that needs to be removed for access. see pic.
I don't want to break them. the dealer was able to dig for the part number but could not tell me how to remove it. thinks you need to stick 3 prongs in it to release it. can I just pry it up?

    edit
it just pries up with what was quite a bit of force. Did not break. This is what I found the end of the drain tube.

Yep, looks just like mine. The trimmer line would go right thru and the clog would close right back up. I removed those #@!&% fittings and have been golden since...

    Update
Well those blocked fittings may have caused the problems, and were easily fixed by removing.
    But the floor.
The drivers side was worse and I was wondering why the carpet was still feeling wet after I removed the floor mat and let it air out for a couple days. The material under the carpet acts like a sponge. What happens if you put a wet sponge under a carpet?
I initially stuffed rags under to absorb as much water form the material as possible.
We have been lucky with a stretch of sunny days so I then lifted the carpet, stuck something underneath to hold it up and let the sun dry it out.
Your floor under the carpet could have water from a leak, you would not know unless enough water built up that made the top of the carpet itself wet. Unless you remove the floor mat to check you wouldn't know.

FYI to anyone wanting to remove these plastic "nuts". They are threaded, so if you turn them counter clockwise, they will come off without prying up on them with "quite a bit of force"...no special tool is needed, just your fingers.

So if you remove those “end caps” any water that flows down will just flow out freely? Damn I need to do this..is there a DIY somewhere?

on my '18 tundra it screws off. there are threads.
There are threads on my '17 4Runner too but it would not screw off.
Its a different type of nut and it pried off pops off ok. Goes back on tight with a push. I used one of the dash removal tools I bought on Ama-zon.

    dash tools.jpg

Pop out that corner nut, Lift up the door side moulding closest to the front enough for clearance so you can pull the corner panel piece straight back toward you. It pops out too. Pull up the drain tube. On drivers side I needed to pop out the bottom clip on the side blue bracket holding the connections for better access.

I don't know about the drain tube cap - I don't have a sunroof. I just investigated the retaining plug on the kick panel because someone asked what it was for.
