Gloss or matte wheels on my Underground?

I'm thinking on getting the gray TRD Pro wheels for my Underground 5th Gen, and I can't decide on the gloss gunmetal (

$1,125 PTR20-35110-G4 (4)

PTR20-35110-G4) or matte gray (-GR) finish. Anybody made the swap?

Truly, from pics on the web, I can't tell much difference between them. Somewhere (maybe here?) I read that the matte simply "looks like the gloss, but with dirt." (shrug)

Who's got experience or opinions?

Those wheels will look SICK on your ride.

 

Gloss will show more dirt. Matte hides a little better.

Mine had matte blacks installed and OEM’s removed before I took possession.

 

I always felt that matte black has that rattle can look. I guess I’m among the few that like the ORP wheels.

 

Have you considered the gunmetal finish ones?

 

because matte already looks dirty. ;-)

Indeed. The -G4 referenced is the gloss gunmetal; the -GR is the matte gray.

I hadn't. Those look good on yours, but I'd rather stick with the gray scheme.
For some reason, though, the bronze Methods you showed made me think of an '80s Trans Am.

 

And remember - do NOT buy the wheels from a dealership. They're available from online Toyota parts stores for around $220/per.

Unfortunately, that's not one of the available options within the Toyota part numbers I have.

The price of the Toyota and FN wheels is the same. The key differences are...
- FN isn't Toyota (blank center cap)
- FN is 1" wider with 4mm less offset. So, you can run 285/70/17s. Well, you can do that on 7" wheels too... you're just not supposed to, and some shops may not mount them.

 

Team G4 here. Fun fact. The G4s came stock on 2020 Ventures.
