I’ve got a 23 ORP, and it makes the noise. It sounds like wind noise, a faint whistle, and I can duplicate it on demand without much effort at all. It’s highly annoying, and is the only thing I hate about the truck. I first noticed it with 50 miles on the odometer. I’ve taped the door jambs and front window, and removed the front rubber wheel well flaps. No difference. I’ve been to the dealer and they replaced the front diff. No help either. I don’t drive around with the radio on. If I did, I probably wouldn’t hear the faint whistle. I can get the noise at about 35 mph. Shifting into 4WH makes no difference. By 50, I don’t really hear it. However, with my driving conditions, I spend most of my time at 35-40 mph.

They replaced the front differential because of a whistling sound? What?

It’s the mini supercharger. At least that’s what I tell myself.

As far as replacing my front diff, when I was trying to explain the whistle noise to the service advisor, he said he would have a tech drive the truck. He diagnosed it as a bad front diff. They first added a piece to the front of the diff per the TSB to decrease resonance, but that didn’t make a difference. The tech then said we need to replace the diff next. After all that, I still have the noise. Good to know it’s normal induction noise, and nothing more. Thanks! :)

That's the invisible turbo on your 4lt. You can hear it but can't see it or feel it.

I had the same. Especially in colder temperatures. Checked the control arm and saw some holes so when the wind came from specific directions it worked like a flute. Put a tape on the hole.
