Already have a nice chip in my new windshield; there's no preventing it if you drive two lane roads with tread-sized pebbles.

Speaking of windshields, upgrading back to factory blades. Don't let your dealer sell you those cheap Sightline ones.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I had this happen to my 2021 Tacoma a few years back. LUCKILY, I captured it on my dash cam. I had a Garmin Mini 2 at the time. The trucking company paid out of pocket to have it replaced. I went to SafeLite and used OEM glass. Because of the camera/sensors the windshield cost about $1600, installed and calibrated.

I didn't pay a dime. My brother-in-law is my insurance agent and he told me that most insurance companies throw in windshield protection for almost nothing and some offer it for free. I have it in my policy and the deductible for it is $50

Went to Urgent Care today, thinking I had the flu or something. Turns out it was allergies. I'll try the off-road adventure tomorrow or next weekend.

    Ooooh! There it is!

I had to have mine replaced last summer. I called around mine was comparable prices between 500-800. I checked with a local shop where I live, and I asked what CASH price was. He said $550 (which included recalibration). I was prepared for taxes and etc. Straight cash was $550.

    Cash has less paper trail.

I didn't pay a dime. The trucking company did. The office manager called SafeLite before I even arrived and paid the bill in cash.

I had a Garmin Mini 2 in my Tacoma, and I have a FitCamx in my SloRunner. I like the FitCam much more. It looks OEM and records in 4k.

There are multiple gravel/landscaping vehicles around here that have signs on the back of their dump trucks and trailers saying “not responsible for broken windshields”. I’ve been waiting to get one losing gravel on camera and send it to them, it’s a huge fine for unsecured load and they are absolutely responsible for any damage from their unsecured load. I have the farm in mini 2 and love it. This is what made me get a dash cam…

    IMG_2664.jpg

someone lost their wheel off their trailer on the interstate going the opposite direction from me. Thankfully my truck was able to handle it well, just to the side of me was a motorcycle. Only about $12,000 in damage when it was all said and done.

Those signs always make me laugh. A sign would not be a contract that would prevent a motorist from presenting a claim for damages against a trucking company, legally speaking, at best they can say the sign was a warning.

I work for a major law firm. I've asked lawyers about those signs and they laughed their asses off.

Had a few free hours after church today so went ahead and did my install. Using the Start-X instructional video of dash disassembly (I liked that one better) made it simple. Bring on frosty mornings!

Exactly! I’ve always gotten a chuckle thinking you’re responsible for your load, sign or not. Here in Washington they’re suppose to cover all loads and rarely do.

Finally put my carbon door handles on. Was going to put on the tailgate cover trim as well and then realized it was the wrong type/year. It had a round area for the key rather than the arrows. Boxed it up and sending it back tomorrow. The door handles look cool, though. Pictures later.
