    Toyota admits problem with transmission.

    "The automatic transmission assembly and torque converter need to be replaced to address this condition."

    Once again, the new sixth gen 4Runner benefitting from Tacoma being released a year earlier. Feels like the new 4Runner will start out as a 2nd year model.

    I saw that on my news feed this morning. A "TSB" requiring full transmission and TC replacement has future recall written all over it.

    Nah it has rebuilding is too much risk for dealerships so we just replace assemblies written all over it. It's cheaper overall to reman in-house at Toyota than it is to pay a tech 10-30 hours to do warranty trans work and the QC is a lot better.

    The only places that do their own internal work at this point is private shops.

    Replacing or repairing isn’t the issue, it’s that this TSB (just the beginning), will turn into a recall.

    Toyota has really dropped the ball on these new engines. No wonder the 4Runner has been delayed.
