97 4Runner 3.4L 242K miles. Here are some of my observations regarding a new and worsening clicking noise for a few days. (Having difficulty uploading the audio on my end)

    - Noise only happens during cold start up. It starts for a few seconds during high idle which is hard for the microphone to catch. Then it came back, which is where I got the audio this morning. No noise during driving, nothing during steering. Nothing I could find that’s loose or rubbing, fluids are good, no leaks. Drives like a champ.

    - coworker and I think we chased the noise to the rear underside of the engine, torque converter, bell housing area.

    - After warming up while in park the noise goes away, reved it up to 1500 RPM’s noise comes back and is persistent.

    - Started the car to move it, heard the noise, put it in reverse, noise went away, put it in drive, no noise, put it in park…. Noise came back.
