I figure the chain mechanism should be worked a couple times a year up here in the rust belt so I don’t mind bringing it down to check air twice a year. I carry a pump anyway.

Spare TPMS started in 2003 when I worked at Toyota and they had the convenient tire reset button under the dash. You can install and program it. If you use existing spare TPMS you shouldn't have to program it. If you have one. Make sure to take a photo of your sensor serial numbers before installing other than at dealer. I have original sensor in my spare and 4 Tundra in road wheels and I was curious if you can program like that.

It would be nice if they integrated that into vehicle information system in radio so you could turn on or off, manually program TPMS, adjust speedometer for gear ratio and tire sizes with all this technology. Not enough dealership visits then I guess or should I assume? Extreme Terrain has sensors for $34 each.

On pavement it's fine. If you go off road a lot, deflate the tire completely to maximize cut resistance, and carry an air compressor full-time.
What do you think you drive, a Jeep? :p

Dude you got it. I don't air down a whole big lot except for rock. I carry same things and tools and impact wrench and plug kit and after running out of gas the other day, a jug. Doesn't have the gas light range of my 97. Or blinking light and bell before completely out like 3rd gen. When it spudders your out. Another valuable lesson. I try to have what I need for field expedient repairs and I don't really have anyone to call for help. I carry my old serpentine belt and coolant hoses after replacing for emergency spares. If you build it they will come, but if you haul it they will stay away.
