Hello, i recently installed bilstein 6112s front (2inches) and bilstein 5100 rear (1.5inch) with 285/70/r17 ridge grapplers. I love how it looks but would you all recommend i get new bump stops for the car or is that not necessary with a 2” lift? Thanks

No you don’t need them unless you’re going to be bombing the desert also the new 6th gen won’t even come with frame bump stops!

Ya I think you’re just fine at 2”. I went 3”, only moderate off-roading, and visually my bump stops have yet to make contact when I look at the two surfaces there’s no disturbance. But, inexpensive (cheap AF) Energy bump stops are on my list. I ain’t need no Sumo’s

Your lift doesn’t change the range of the IFS, so no bump stop upgrades are needed. If you change the tire size, then yes, you may need to change them.

I'm about the same lift as you and went to 285/70/17's. I did the inexpensive route and went with the energy suspension fronts and the Lexus replacement rear. Let me see if I can find the link or part numbers. It's in this forum somewhere as a few people have gone this route. Less than a 100$. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4ZT-oVjSbw

Are there any benefits to upgrade bumps stops for a fully stock 4R? Or is it only necessary when changing tire size and suspensions?

I’ve heard a lot of good thing about durobumps and Perry bump stops but I don’t want to get some if there’s not going to be any difference if I am fully stock?

Won't need them if still stock.

If you like to go fast in the desert you could use upgraded bump stops. But if that’s your thing you’ve probably already done it (and more).

@nova and @Pavo are right. You probably only need them if you're bombing desert roads.

I upgraded mine to, I think, Durobump. They were definitely longer, thicker, beefier.

However bombing down desert roads I bottomed out pretty hard on the front end making a pretty darn loud sound against the fender liners and scraped them up a bit.

Been meaning to swap out to Perry Parts bump stops. When you order those they ask the tire diameter so you get a bump stop that matches your tire.

I didn't build my 4runner to bomb desert roads and don't seek out that activity but I was on the road and it just kinda happened because it was fun.
