Hello everyone! I got a July built 2024 ORP last week. I’m coming from a 2009 Tacoma Off-Road 6-speed. I love this thing so far!

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Welcome aboard, and that's a sweet looking rig. Nice color. You'll find a lot of guys (and women) on this site traded up from Taco's to SloRunners. I'm one of them. I got sick of how utterly useless the backseat and bed of my Taco was (is).

Sure, I lost some towing ability but I can put a full size adult in the back seat and the cargo area is bigger. The driving positing is much better, in my opinion.

Welcome! Great looking truck. I too came from a Taco. Mine was a 2011 with zero technology. Love the comfort and upgrades on the 4R

Also coming from a taco but a newer 2022 off-road. Definitely the 4runner requires a little bit of a heavier foot if you want some acceleration. I like the ride position better and it seems there is a little less sway at highway speeds. I expect a touch better performance this winter with the heavier backend, the taco could get a little Squirrley. I really love the styling of the forerunner and I feel a little more grown-up driving it around. However, the other day I came back from a hike and there was a red Tacoma exactly like mine parked right next to my 4Runner and I definitely felt a bit nostalgic. that Tacoma was a great truck. As long as I don’t put them side to side, I’m fine :)

I’ve noticed the trend since I’ve been lurking the forums. I’ll definitely miss my taco but I really do love this thing! It is comfortable and I like the new to me tech.

EDIT: I also don't miss the gear-searching transmission on the taco! There, I feel better.

I drive my friend 3rd Gen TRD Pro and it felt so underpowered so I stuck with my second gen for another 5 years. This 4Runner feels fine to me but I didn’t get it for the power that’s for sure.

Welcome I still have my second gen Tacoma, what’s funny is I’m not sure if you noticed or agree but the 1gr on my Tacoma felt more linear and smooth compared to the dual vvti 1gr in my 5th gen 4Runner even though the 4Runner has 40 more hp than the Tacoma 1gr

I’m still in the engine mileage break in period so I’m not quite sure yet. I had a 6 speed 2nd gen and that felt more powerful to me so far but I haven’t pushed the 4Runner yet.
