Multipoint inspection and tire rotation are complementary with the oil change, at least at my dealer that charges $120 plus tax. They will not touch your truck for 80 bucks

OP, check the invoice that you received if it has tire rotation and multipoint inspection on it. If it says so, then keep going to your dealer. You can't get a better deal than $80. Just make sure they use Mobil 1 or another good quality oil. Most use Mobil 1.
Also ask them if they sell packages like 5 oil changes for $300 in your case, or $350

Technically, it is not necessary to change oil at all if you plan to own it only for a few years. The engine is unlikely to seize on the factory fill oil in the first 3 years/60K especially if you just drive highways. However, doing so is wasteful, as it reduces engine and truck life.

You can change your oil every 10k with synthetic of any brand and the engine will go 500k plus easy

These famous 1mil miles engines all have one thing in common - lots of highway miles and frequent oil changes. You won't get there with your service interval.

You are not touching 500k easy with just 10k oil changes. You have to be on top of your maintenance and replace pretty much every moving part in your engine bay as preventive maintenance or due to wear and tear every step of the way to make the engine last that long. And if you get a timing leak despite regular oil chnages. There goes your 500k down the drain.
This 500k engine life on just 10k oil changes is malarkey

Read your owner manual. 10K change interval is conditional on whole bunch of things not happening - like cold starts in the winter, short trips, dusty roads, idling in heat in traffic, towing, etc. If that is not how you drive, you should be changing oil more often and follow the severe (aka normal) use schedule. Especially if you end up using Group III oils.

I go to Poway Toyota in San Diego County. I have developed a good relationship with my Service Writer. He knows I know my stuff and take a jaundiced eye
at a lot of the extra stuff showing as needed on my old 06 Tacoma. Good mutual respect and no bs

1 million miles in 10 years is a hell a lot different than 1 million miles in 30 years. No, your 4Runner won't make it to 1 million miles in 30 years.

Of course it will say synthetic. Check if you got multi-point inspection and tire rotation

Actually 10k mile interval is perfect if you drive 600 miles a day :notsure:

Yes, and like a dummy I opted out of that which means I had to pay for that part of the service.

In that case $80 is not a good deal. It would have been a good deal if it included inspection and tire rotation. I take my own oil to Valvoline Instant Oil Change and they charge me $40 and I get to stand over them and make sure they do things right. I love their machine

Imo, nothing is a good deal if the work being done is botched. I'm sure there are good dealers out there, but after one of my free oil changes at the dealer where I purchased, my skid plate bolts were stripped, and the filter element was the wrong size. Right diameter, but was not the same length as a 4Runner element.
WTF, really?? Its amazing what some of these dealers get away with. I've never been back and have done my own for the last 8 years.

Agree. I shake my head at the number of mechanical repair and installation videos where the hardware is installed in it's entirety with power tools. No checking that the threads have seated properly - just ram it home until the tool/hardware click... I don't really care if they show the actual torqueing of the hardware or if people themselves go by torque spec vs "feel", but please at least provide the info.

Yesterday at the dealer while picking up a part I heard a service advisor tell a lady who had a 2023 4Runner, that they are going to give her the upgraded service package at 50% off that includes oil change , throttle body clean, cabin filter change, mats inspection, all fluid inspection, AC refresh and something else. He also managed to charge her $700 or $500 something for a new spare key coding.

Oy. Cabin filter change. I hate to watch how dealerships treat women, but LOVE it when a woman knows her shit and calls 'em out on it.

Honda dealer wanted to charge $32.00 in labor JUST to change the air filter in her Civic . That was not including the filter .
So I bought a filter and showed her how it takes less than 2 minutes to change it out . And that was including opening and then closing the hood .

Yeah, when I met my wife she was super happy to learn how easy it was.
OEM filter online - 8-10ish bucks.
Usually in the cabin (glovebox) Not dirty.
    Usually don't need a tool.
Usually can find a YouTube how to on your exact model.
    Done!
