Good evening everyone, I just bought a used 2004 Toyota 4Runner for our son and after going through it I came across the following issue and could not find any posts addressing this. Most posts had to do with the rear hatch.
So my issue is when I put the key into the tailgate to roll the window down the window will literally go down 1/4 inch and stop and will not go back up turning the key the other way.
To be clear, the button on the center console works fine and the window goes all the way up and down no problem. Additionally when turn the key left and right it does lock and unlock the vehicle, it's just not operating the window???
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the issue may be? Bad key cylinder? Thanks for any guidance.

I don't have any experience with that problem but before you get too deep into taking apart the hatch, have you tried jostling the rubber housing for the wires at the top of the door? I think that's where I would start, hold the key and try squeezing that bundle of wires. If that doesn't make a difference then take a look at the key cylinder.

A search on the 4runner.org turns up some hits.
