    Hi all,
2022 trd orp here. Project is underway. I mostly want to keep modifications somewhat stealth and retain as much component durability and mpg as possible (meager as they are). Running stock size MT Baja boss. Planning to upgrade suspension to Fox Elite 2.5s. I want to be able to control compression a bit when I load up and head off road. But here's the question: Fox says they "increase wheel travel." Is that really possible? Without new control arms, without changing bump stops, without changing anything about the sway bars, and without a lift, can I really get more down travel from this suspension upgrade??

I know a lift sometimes reduces droop, and that's something I really want to avoid. But I thought I needed to add an inch or so lift to take advantage of the longer travel. Is that not true?
    Thanks!

Compared to stock yes. The coils along are different in the fox 2.5. And then you can adjust the amount of lift you can get. I think max is a 3in lift on the front. If you want to get very technical and dial in even more, got to accutune...use their measurement template and then you can see the difference. I think it is worth it.

Well yea, they will increase travel but slightly. To get the most out of the fox struts, you'll want to upgrade uca.

Hit up acctune they sell fox shocks and will fine tune them for your style of driving.

It’s maybe an extra 1/8” travel over the stock 8” with the extended travel option. They remove an internal spacer.

Also a lift doesn’t increase travel, it just eats up downtravel to give you more height.

This is also why it’s funny to read about the number of burly stance, “lift” jobs for aesthetics that people have going on that erode down-travel and articulation and actual off-road performance. Makes me nostalgic for when back in high school, kids would “slam” cars by cutting coils off their springs not considering that their new sleek to the ground cars resembling the silhouette of a Porsche or Ferrari, were actually worse handling and constantly bottoming out vs stock. But I get it, for many people, it’s very much about the look and not the actual function.

This is not aimed at the OP or your response, just reminded me of the good old days reading what you wrote.

That only works if the shock is the limiting factor, right?

Thanks all. I couldn't find specs on the stock rear travel. I know the Fox's are around 8.5"

Another really dumb question for anyone still following along. These shocks are 0-1.5" lift. That doesn't mean I can lift the rear 1.5" just by bolting these on, right? I still need a new spring or spacer? Bc the fronts you can indeed lift with just the coilover.
