My 1997 4Runner SR5 V6 manual keep on setting error codes 130 and 133 after driving around 5 minutes. I thought it was the O2-Sensor so I replaced it with Denso 234-4161, but it did not make any difference, does anybody has any experience with this problem, many thanks

    • P0133 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response
Replacing the sensor like you already did does seem like a first step.

I'd check wiring and make sure it looks good and all grounds are good to the ECM.

Which O2 sensor did you replace? Upstream or downstream? P0133 seems to be a code for the UPSTREAM sensor?

Also, I'm a big advocate for calling your dealer with your VIN and having them lookup the sensor part numbers. O2 sensors changed and were different for different regions. A dealer can tell you what sensor you should get. Then buy from them or don't. The parts guys don't care.

It is the upstream O2 sensor, I looked it up in the Denso parts catalog, Denso is the OEM sensor for this vehicle, maybe I should check the voltage on the sensor heater circuit. The trucks runs great, idles great, good gas mileage except the darn check engine light. Thanks for you post

Check check check before throwing parts at it.

Yes check voltage first and go from there.

    solution,

After changing O2 sensor with a new one the ECU needs a hard reset to the factory setting to learn the response of the new sensor, this done by removing the power cables from the battery then shorting the power and ground cables with a few ohm resistor and wait maybe for 30min.
