Been posting on here for a little while but is there another forum that is more active? Seems like this one doesn’t produce the quantity of content compared to other auto forums I frequent. There are a ton of 4Runners on the road, I just thought this site would be more active but I could be mistaken.

47 posts over a 12month period? You aren't contributing much, are ya'? Maybe YOU should be the one that's more active. Remember the phrase "You get what you give."

....you're not giving much at all.

Vehicle has been around for 14 years with very few changes. Not a lot of innovation space left so not a lot to discuss. Just wait until 5Gs get cheaper and you’ll probably start seeing some crazier builds

What sort of content are you after? 4Runner forums are easy enough to find. I don’t think anyone on here is tracking activity on 4Runner forums for comparison purposes. You’ll probably need to do that research yourself.

Hard to understand what you're after when asking if there's another forum that's 'more active'. You simply want more people posting stuff? Quantity of content is what you're after? The other forum mentioned by others seems to have more Gen3 stuff - you know, older vehicles, lots of repair-type questions. Is that what you want?

It was a very simple question that didn't require a snarky comment. You must be the type of person that is just looking for an argument. Nowhere did I say I post a lot. Please read with intent to understand. Just because someone doesn't post a lot doesn't mean they aren't contributing. Do you have access to my private messages?

I’ve noticed a lot of people lurk and don’t post. Sometimes this is better imo.

OP might ask for advice on a given topic, and instead of everyone throwing their .02 cents in and burying the thread in garbage the group waits for a good answer, and moves on.

The question was answered, no need for further discussion.

I think a lot of 4Runner owners are not necessarily enthusiasts. The vast majority of 4Runners I see are completely stock.

I think a big reason people find forums like this is when they're either buying, or having an issue with theirs.

Also, these forms are kind of old school now, a lot of people post on Reddit or in Facebook groups.

There is another one that's active and has better tech, but it's basically unusable on a mobile device because the ads and pop-ups are so bad.

This is by far the most active 4Runner forum. The others are quite slow and use older platforms that have issues so it makes it even harder to contribute.

It all depends on how often you contribute. Just because you aren't in the conversation doesn't mean it's not happening. I can easily have active conversations every day here depending on how I interact.

That said, yes there are many forums that are way more active.

People have mostly migrated to FB pages from forums for maximum attention fulfillment and excuses for not being able to search.

I just went through the top dozen posts on the forum and checked the time between the first post and the first reply. The average time to first response was ≈ 34 minutes, with most under ½ hour and half of them under 10 minutes and a third of them under 5 minutes.
I thought the question itself was kind of snarky, and that it got the reply it deserved.

OP is correct. While this forum is "active" almost no one here is doing anything. By that I mean barely anyone here is pushing boundaries and getting into custom stuff. For the most part everyone here is doing cookie cutter stuff that's all been done before.

Makes sense. I only want to do mods that have been done before so I know it works before I pay for something or try to mod my $54k vehicle.

The other thing I think that's going on is a lot of younger people might not use forums as much these days. Mayne forums are for old people?

And then also, because this is an old car, all thr things have been done already so there's almost no threads of people trying to figure a new thing out.

To that end, this is not an active car forum. Most of the topics here, technically speaking, are very entry level. The threads that get the most action are stuff like, "what oil do you guys use" "bumper stickers or no"

I've gone on reddit asking about what the most active 4runner forums are because I'm right there with you OP. I want to see some posts of some young kids doing crazy shit fucking up their cars. There's the T4R forums but there's so many ads I can't stand if. That one seems more active and bigger projects going on.

The other good option is more general 4x4 forums and not 4runner specific. There you can find amazing projects you'd need to adapt for your 4runner.

You're not crazy OP. I agree with you.

That said this is an amazing forum and it's the only one I'm on. There's a great vibe and great people.

I've asked questions here and got fantastic answers immediately while I was working on my car. I love this forum.

I would add that not many things break when compared to some other vehicles. Forums for other vehicles may be more filled with repair tips and requests for that type of info.

I am not on Facebook. Never have been so I was just looking for the most active community to be a part of.

Please expand. And I did the work for you. Here is the definition of Snarky…

    adjective

    , snark·i·er, snark·i·est.
    1. testy or irritable; short.
    2. having a rudely critical tone or manner:
I even said at the end that I could be mistaken. Please enlighten me on how my question was Snarky.

You could have asked if there were other popular 4Runner forums out there, and then explored them to see if they meet your definition of active. But the way you phrased your question was akin to asking a girl if she has a cuter sister.

Seriously? First of all you didn’t answer the question.

Secondly I compared this forum to other auto forums. Not other 4Runner forums. Are you really that sensitive?

Again I was trying to get information with no malicious intent and the response I received was unproductive. Have it your way. Maybe the forum isn’t as active as it could be because people like you and your buddy.
