When camping, I always end up packing stuff on the passenger front seat and it activates the seat belt sensor as if someone were sitting there and that annoying chime will periodically ring out. Is there a way to disable the chime without clicking the seatbelt in. Is there a fuse, or a plug under the seat or something that I can pull to disable it?

    I went the Carista route.
    On the plus side:
    • the chime is always disabled.
    • many other adjustments can be made as well.

    On the minus side:
    • the seatbelt light stays illuminated in the instrument cluster.
    • more expensive option

You can turn off the chime with software such as techstream or carista

The audible alarm or tone is actually emitted by the instrument cluster. Reasons why the the tone sounds likes it’s coming from the dash. The “speaker” is in the back of the instrument cluster. It knows (via the communication network) if the seatbelt is buckled or not.

A simple message on the network via the OBD port tells the cluster to no longer make a sound when the seatbelt is unbuckled.

Techstream has the ability to communicate with the truck and send the message. Carista and some others have cloned the message from Techstream and can do it as well.

On my 1st gen Tacoma, I just disconnected the connector under the seat. Maybe that’s not an option on the newer 5th Gen?
