TRD Pro Exhaust Heat Problem

    Hey guys. New here.

    But I've been searching threads and other sites and while I'm finding my issue I'm not seeing any solutions. So here goes.

    I just financed a 2024 4Runner TRD Pro. Therefore I cannot mod it too much or I void the warranty if there's a problem. But I really like how the XL RokBloks mudflaps look on the truck. Just one problem. The TRD Exhaust is melting the mudflap. I want to keep the look of it with the mudflaps aswell as the exhaust.

    So, is it at all possible to have the exhaust maybe slightly bent so it exits at the corner of the body or even extended while keeping the side exit? Maybe shortened so it comes out in front of the rear wheel? If it can be extended I'll probably ask the dealership in order not to void warranty by having a third party do it but just looking for other people's thoughts on this.

    It seems you gotta pay to play. If you're set on the mudflaps, and the exhaust melts that one, I'd check with an exhaust shop to see if they can open up that last bend to put the tip a bit further back.

    There's no world I can imagine where modifying an exhaust tip would void a warranty...

    It would be easy actually, and not hurt your warranty.
    I would slip the tail pipe off and cut tiny pie shaped wedges out of that bend before the tip, and then allow it to bend the pipe more rearward and then TIG weld it back up. You can have the tip angled out more like this here

    If you go to exhaust shop, make sure get a clear understanding of how they will do what you want them to do. That will avoid a surprise in case they just chop the end off and weld or clamp a new tip on at a different angle. I would expect many would offer that as the solution, assuming the customer wants to get the cheapest price. That’s the cheapest, quickest, and safest way to do that without the risk of dealing with disassembly and siezed hardware. But, it will look janky and corrode quickly if they do that. And because it’s in a visible area, you’ll be reminded of it every time you walk by your 4runner.

    Nowadays, nothing beats unmolested stock exhaust components as far as durability. Unless you’re willing to pay expensive/better materials and the shop time for doing it perfectly. That’s assuming somebody the shop has the experience to do high level work.

    If you start off roading you may want to relocate your exhaust exit anyways... Sh*t hangs too low. Pro or regular exhaust.
    My 2 cents: Just chop it off right behind the axle.

    You could also invest in the Carven exhaust or the magnaflow overland exhaust. The latter being a better option.
    However I've heard both of these cause some drone in the cabin... So just chop it :cool:

    It does say on their web site you cannot use them for the rear on the Pro. I had the rear in my 20 Pro but it did not do that to them. Not sure if the exhaust is shaped. Little different for the 24.

    At first the Pro had the regular Runner exhaust. At some point they put the side exit one that's loud to give you more for your money.

    I also blame the mud flaps. I've had this set up for over a year with the OE mud flaps and no issues at all.

    Yes my 17 had the normal exhaust but my 20 Pro had the side exhaust. I think it switched from 19 and up.

    From my experience having enough Toyota’s they cut into the paint and rub into it over time. My rear ones I have PPF under them but the fronts are removed.

    sounds like those mudflaps are cheaply made vs oem. My TRD side pipe doesnt do anything to the OEM flaps

    FORD tried exiting the exhaust in front of the rear wheel on their pickup trucks some time ago. That brilliant (not) idea turned out to be a bust. They eventually went back to a longer tail pipe to get the exhaust outlet further back, behind the rear wheels.
