I have held and hard...from going to 34's and even 35's as I just hate the idea of the BMC which I know is totally safe and fine, but the extra trimming that needs to be done around the fenders and inner areas just seems to add more cutting and prep all around. I think if I get into offroading more and more I will probably go for it one day, but for now the occasional light trail and mall crawling is all I got.

I agree, I kinda like a smaller tire so the suspension shows... dropping my 275/70/17 for 265/70/17 tomorrow morning

Do you fit the 34” spare underneath fully inflated? Also, what is your total wheel offset with the spacers you run? Looks good!

My understanding is that the fitment cut-off size for the spare tire area (Gen5 4R) is somewhere in the 33" to 34" diameter range. However, since each vehicle is going to be built a little differently as well as each tire size for each tire manufacturer, you just gotta try the tire you have in the spare location on your vehicle.

For my truck, I have a set of BFG KO2 295/70R17 tires and was able to fit my 5th in the OEM spare spot with maybe 1/16" to 1/8" of play. It does protrude down a bit, though. Thankfully, it's a temporary solution as I'm planning to get a high clearance bumper and swing-out tire carrier later this year.

Do you have KDSS? My LT285/70 spare is a tight fit, but tested a bit and I don’t believe it will ever make contact with the sway bar, or am I wrong? Lol

I do have KDSS. And... just crawled under the truck to check your request and reality-check my confidence.

The tire has been in the spare spot for about 3000 miles. It appears to have 'settled' against the rear bumper and left at least 1/2" to 1/4" of space between the tire and the KDSS bits and sway bar. I do have the KDSS spacers and BOTCK which may account for some variation in how your situation would be. There does not appear to be any rubbing anywhere on the tire or nearby parts. Although, I haven't taken the truck for any serious off-roading since putting the tire there.

Here's what it looks like as of tonight...

When I offroad I pull the spare and put it in the cargo area. When it’s underneath it’s one more thing that gets hung up when crawling over really rocky stuff. I know some fit the 34” tire underneath and some don’t. I don’t have kdss. I’m going to gamble that it will fit. I do want to get the Outgear solutions rear swing out bumper though :)

Yes a 285/75/17 fits underneath just fine IF you don’t have KDSS. It does hang a little low but it fits.
