Just installed a set of 275/70R 17 BFG KO3s and they fit at look perfect. The look of the truck is exactly what I wanted. Fully stock TRD Pro suspension.
    Mods so far:
    1. Toyota OEM Rock Rails - I like the minimalist look and they have already saved me a few times while attempting some narrow trails
    2. Desert Does It Seat Jackers - my lenky legs needed this
    3. Removed the annoying Toyota TRD Pro roof rack and went with a delete kit, OEM parts. I don’t do much camping, so likely won’t need a roof rack at all; the rack just kept getting tangled in low hanging branches while on trails. Also should help with MPGs (might be offset by the E-Load range KO3s)
    4. Window tint - 15% ceramic all around and 50% on windshield. Perfect for the brutal Arizona sun.
    5. Lastly, the set, of 5 (w/spare) KO3s after a blowout of one of my Terra Grappler stocks - ride on highway speed is smooth and have not felt any change in power with heavier tires. Worth the upgrade if you are not wanting any suspension mods.

I really like that tire size except for the E load. I think the only one making this size in a load C is falken wildpeak at4 but they are so heavy!

I was worried about the weight too. But they are just fine. Feels much better driving and I have more control of the swaying on highway speeds. The only way to tell is to take the plunge; I think discount tire will replace/return if you don’t like them.

I like the E LOADS, it makes the tires as tough :militarypress: as the truck. So if you run into some trails [or curbs at the mall] you don't have to worry about destroying sidewalls as easily. :benchpress:

Yup. Discount Tire has always been good with tires for me over the years. May be worth a little drive if you have one within a reasonable distance.

How do you handle the recalibration of the speedo? Could you have bought 265’s in the lighter weight?

Funny you ask. With the 265s, my speedo was always a little off when I compared to a couple of different GPS speedometers. When I put the 275s on, I have an accurate vehicle speedometer now. My ‘23 4Runner was also off with the stock tires; I never upgraded tires with that one. I would suggest you test it out with a couple of speedometer apps or the Waze or Google maps apps and that show the speed. As for the size, 265s are a very common size so almost all manufacturers make it in various load ratings.

    Looking good.

I had 275/70R17 on my TRD ORP. My only complaint was on road ride comfort, which make me sell them and buy 285 Load C.

I can totally feel them a little rougher. But I kind of like the ride better and it handles on curves much better. There is also the tougher sidewalls that can handle the off-roading better; this is the reason I replaced the set in the first place (a blowout while off-roading). At the end, It’s a preference thing, I truly off-road my baby and feel much more at ease while hitting the trails, especially since I enjoy solo-off-roading.

Did you do an aftermarket suspension? Maybe you are a little over pre-loaded with your setup which is causing the rougher ride?

check your tire pressures, most everyone gets caught up in looking at the pressure on the sidewall, or in the door, and typically running FAR too much air pressure. The air pressure required is dependent on the load, meaning how heavy the vehicle is, and also how wide the wheels are.

Good example, i drive on a gravel road to get my tires white and dusty, and then drive on pavement and check to see how well the white dust is worn off. I start out high and then let my pressure down until the entire face of the tire is wiped clean.
My 2023 TRD Sport with 20" Limited wheels takes 26psi front 20psi rear to make the LRE tires lay perfectly flat on the road and wear the whole tread
My 2005 Tundra double cab with 20" Limited wheels takes 34psi front and 24psi rear to make the LRE tires lay perfectly flat on the road and wear the whole tread.
Both vehicles have the same width wheel, both have the same tire, the only difference is the amount of weight on each tire. Since there is a different amount of weight (load) on each tire, it makes the dire deform differently as it contacts the road. The heavier vehicle required more air to make the tire lay flat on the road when driving.
Also, i absolutely love the LRE tires, its all i buy because they are so bulletproof. I leave earlier than the wife, and didnt think or see it, but she had a left rear flat and drove 15 miles from home, 6 miles of highway, and to work on a flat. I mean flat flat like tire mushroomed over and the wheel nearly on the ground. When she got to work and was backing in, a co-worker told her "you have a flat" so she called me to come fix it. I got there and told her "you drove this thing all the way here on a freaking flat how did you not see it" and she swore it must have just went flat. I told her nope, i can see the black marks as you drove in, and backed in from the tire sidewall on the concrete, its been flat. I put the spare on and got her going but she literally drove 15 miles (she drives 80+ on the highway) on a flat tire on the sidewll. General ATX LRE 285/60-18, i had the tire patched and put it back on the next day and its still riding to this day with over 104,000 miles on that set. They are such awesome tires.

Most people are running 40+ psi on LRE tires which makes them as hard as granite, if you chalk the tires or do the limestone gravel trick like i do and adjust your pressures down where the whole face of the tire contacts the road, you would likely only have like 25ish psi like i have and the tire would ride SO much better.

I think the chalk trick works well but only in a very controlled environment. Empty vehicle vs. riding with passengers, loaded with gear vs not, etc. I currently run 40 on mine. This is probably high, I should probably check with a chalk and confirm I’m not running to high myself; I mostly drive alone and with no weight in truck.

i go from unloaded, to loaded, to towing, and dont change a thing. You are not towing cross country, dont sweat it if you are just going a few miles from Home Depot to the house with some wood, just drive it.

Agreed. I monitor it and watch it change as the temperatures go up. I do air down to about 20 when off-roading for a long time just for comfort on gravel and rocky roads.

I have diesel trucks i tow with, and yes i agree if you are towing it is pretty critical to watch tire pressures and yes tire pressures change with load and temp but i drove my 4R with 285/60-18 from Baja California to Mississippi semi loaded with gear, unloaded all the gear, switched suitcases, and hooked up a trailer and drove to miami, picked up a piece of equipment, and came back to mississippi, all in a week. I didnt change the tire pressures or anything, that was in 2019 and i am still running those same tires today and should be about 200 miles shy of 105,000 miles on them.
2008 4R v6 with 285/60-18 General ATX in LRE and i run 28psi up front and 24psi in the rear and never change it. The only time i change the pressure is after a rotate in which the fronts go to the rear so i swap the pressures.
I have only rotated these tires twice, once at 40,000 and once again at 90,000
Here they are at 102,000, lower your pressure, enjoy the ride, they will last a long time if you get the pressure where the whole face of the tread contacts the road smoothly and evenly.

I used them on stock TRD ORP suspension. Tire shop use 40psi as usual. End up running at 32psi. Later added aftermarket suspension which got things worse. Then sold them and got 285 KO2 in load C. Life was much better.

Yup. Still super happy... The ride is smoother than I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong, they are still a heavy tire for a truck like ours, but the ride is still very much acceptable.

That’s amazing. Any experience with them in the snow? How about rain? I am at 50k with my AT3s and still have a lot of rubber. No way though I’ll match your mileage. That’s impressive

Yeah I got that size in Wildpeak AT3W flavor. Actually braindead decision, it is so heavy (57lb C load lmao) that I could have gone to 285/75r17. Should have just done that or stayed stock
