Very sweet ride my dude. Any idea what it might go for? Or what your reserve is set to? I've been looking hard at 99s.

thanks, yeah i'll be sad to see it go but i know whoever nabs it will be fired up. its a no reserve auction, C&B wouldn't take it with a reserve so its going to a new home at the end of the auction no matter what. as far as how much it'll go for? really not sure of anything there except that it'll likely be less than i've got in it hahaha

Just curious, how is C&B when it comes to selling your car?

they were great and easy to work with - in hindsight i wish i had have listed it locally / cars.com / wherever for a month or so first, the final sale price was a bit below what i was hoping / had in it (lol) which i sorta expected but valued the 'convenience' of not having to deal with tire kickers and knowing that after the auction i've got the cash

also the used car market has definitely taken a big dip especially for vehicles like mine that likely wouldn't be someones daily driver (but very much could be / was for me)

Yeah it was rad that you put it on no-reserve and I would sell my car on C&B just for Doug's take on it

i dont think that they'd have auctioned it with a reserve unfortunately - i put in what i wanted it set at (which we thankfully passed anyway) and they came back and said nah we find they do better with no reserve / wont do it with (my words, paraphrasing), i didn't push back too hard. i'm not sure what their cutoff / requirements are for it to have a reserve but a 25 year old mass produced vehicle with nearing 200k on the clock didn't cut it even with the supercharger and manual. they said with no reserve you get more bids but idk if thats true, i mean you get more bids sure but not necessarily higher bids

c&b were easy to work with and straightforward though, no hidden anything and they did a nice write up and job of organizing details and information, i would sell with them again if i needed to and had either a near bone stock one or something rare

The truth is cars that are modified in this manner are hard for new owners to own and maintain other than the person who did the mods.

Mechanics either don’t know or don’t want to work on complex cars. And in many areas it is hard to find a reputable shop. So when someone is dumping $16k, they’ll think twice.

It’s a sweet car, I loved seeing it in cars and bids. But I can understand why it may not be an easy sell. You got a good price for it considering.

yeah i totally get that, and the hesitation to buy a 25 y/o modded car, i wasn't terribly surprised and i got my cash without the hassle of tire kickers. it did make a little bit of me die inside when the buyer picked it up and told me he was prepared to go up to 21k tho....just needed someone else to be bidding against him haha

cars come, cars go, i'll miss that sweet supercharged 5 speed but not having to put premium gas in it. i've still got my '03 tacoma with 200k+ that'll just keep ticking without worry
