Random, Pointless Question: Why is this pink?

I've wondered this for years b/c it stands out so much in the engine bay. Does anyone know the rationale for why part of the fan clutch is pink? Just seems so random.

 

Maybe a heat related paint? When it reaches a certain temp it will turn a different color? Axles on 121 airliners use that when the peelot smokes the brakes the axles turn brown meaning you just bought an axle along W/Wheels/Tires/Brakes.

 

Are you in the airline industry? I'm long out of it but spent ~20 years with TranStar (nee Muse Air), American, and Delta. Majority of that was 14 years with AA.

• Pink flange is "standard"
• Green flange "heavy duty" for tow packages

But I've got pink flange and tow package from factory so that must not be the case.

Have seen Aisin flanges in blue, beige, black, brown, green, pink, and red.

In the Aisin catalog, shows they make fan clutches for 10 different manufacturers. Maybe they color code by manu, or perhaps by region or by model/engine type?
