New to Toyota 4Runners….

Thanks for the add to the group. My wife and I just purchased a 2024 4Runner XP Gunner, pretty much love it but it’s missing something’s that would be a nice thing to have but we’ll work around it. So my wife is in a Facebook page for female 4Runner owners and some posted about her 4Runner getting a window smashed in, door open from inside and everything stolen from inside with no alarm going off. So we tested ours and it doesn’t set off the alarm when simulating an open from the inside. Manual says it takes up to 30 seconds for alarm to set once locked. Called dealership and they do not understand what I’m trying to explain and want me to bring it in. Has anyone in here seen this, is there a setting I have to turn on or is this a known issue? TIA

 

How far away is the fob when you're opening from inside?

 

Inside the house, 40 feet or so.

Are you remaining inside of the 4Runner, Having your wife activate the alarm (With Fob) and then unlocking from the inside/opening the door manually?

Yes, I’m inside, she locks the doors, security light just flashes, wait well over the required 30 seconds after she goes into the house with the fob, I’ve tried manually unlocking, pulling inside door handle, and pushing the switch from both front doors in each sequence and nothing from the truck indicating it has been broken into.

 

Just to confirm and to be clear, after you manually unlock form inside, Do you then physically open the door fully?

What's an XP Gunner?

 

I think it is a South East Toyota package with 20-inch black gunner alloy wheels, all-terrain tire upgrade, predator pro step bar, and black exhaust tip. Cannot remember exactly but may have black emblem overlays..

 

Defiantly an issue that Warranty will cover.

I would try the other doors (Same locking/wait procedure) and see if one of those activates with it , if you have time before a Dealer visit. Could narrow it down to a certain door. This may help in repairing it
