Just a roof rack and bull guard so far, but working on it
    Hello all,
So I have a 1997 4Runner SR5, I just got and psyched to make this my own. Meaning, looking to add lift, and upgrade the wheels and tires. The truck has 16” rims currently, tires are bad, and I am looking to upgrade. Can put 17” wheels first, if they are Toyota rims? Before doing the lift? Can’t afford to do all at once, but want to make sure they won’t rub anything. I have found a lot of wheels with tires for good pricing on marketplace, but all the wheels are 17” that I am looking for. New to this so appreciate the help!

Welcome, And yes you can fit most Toyota takeoffs that you will find in the resale market. I ran both 265/70/17 and 255/75/17 on my '98 without issue. I can't speak to exactly how much larger you can go without rubbing but I know that 32-ish fit just fine.

That is awesome! Thank you for the information! With this at least I know I have so many more options.

I love my 4runner but even with 16" wheels its a rollover machine. Can't imagine putting the CG even higher.
