I would think the demand here would be a lot less, simply because they drive just fine right off the lot. Tacoma's not so much. That's not to say they're won't be any interest. I'm sure there will be.

Considering the work that is necessary for it I’d say it’s a reasonable price. The Cobb Access Port for the Subaru costs $650 itself but that is the device and a few COTS tunes.

I have a mild interest but I think my $$ will he spent on other things for it.

I would love to get this ECU hacked if we can get any kind of gains out of it to make it worth it. These 4runners are sluggish

Mat, try posting here as well. I think you’ll get more response. Definetly interested in a tune!

That works for throttle responsiveness but doesn’t do anything to tap the unused potential of this engine. If you can get a reliable tune out of this ECU you could manage to get a noticeable increase in power, responsiveness and efficiency.

@OVTune I’m really curious to see what the power gains could be off this engine.

I'm ready to buy your tune and have corresponded via your website a few times in anticipation.

There are a couple of others that have announced tunes (Vivid Racing & TuningTechFS) but based on your work with the Tacoma it looks like your tune is much more comprehensive. I'd like for you to make a commitment to getting a tune for the 4runner. (PLEASE!) I was excited from your first email response when you said "30-45 days or so" but then less optimistic from my second inquiry where the timeframe was "winter". Now your looking for feedback to gauge interest... if you had a tune that is like the Tacoma you will have a strong interest. You might also post on toyota-4runner.org - there's a number of questions about tunes popping up there also.

I'm ready and willing to go! I don't have access to a dyno otherwise I'd be in for some alpha testing. I'm definitely up for testing if you bypass the dyno desire.

not contesting a tune but how many of us are really taking our rigs to a drag race. a simple throttle response tool for less money will help make our 4s feel more alive.

    Hey Mat,

I had the tune well (1.02-1.04) on my 2016 Taco and swore by it. I primarily used the 87 octane tune for MPGs and didn't really care about the power since most of my driving was between stoplights and a little on the highway.

I'd be interested but only if we can roll with something handheld or without the damn dongle and shit that came with the first several packages. I only have a mac so it got old real quick using Virtual Desktops to try and flash the truck.

I kid you not, a minimum of 2 hours constantly restarting the flash because it would error out.

A simple handheld device like you are offering for the Tacos would be clutch.

If you were to produce this tune, do you have a timing? I’m going to spend money on a tune but I won’t wait much longer.

Interested. More power and remap the throttle. I'm tired of hearing my transmission shifting constantly.

NOOB here, but would be interested. Live close enough to Vivid Racing to have it done. They have a video and some hefty claims.

Lots of questions in this thread but very little answers. I have just purchased a 2018 4Runner and would like to have it tuned. I had my two previous Tahoe's tuned and it made a big difference in both performance and mpg. Where can I get my Runner tuned?

It will be interesting to see how much power can be gained but given the past and how hard it is to work with Toyotas, I'm guessing it won't be as much gain as other vehicles brands get. GM for one

Read the OVT thread over on TacomaWorld in the 3rd Gen section. People seem happy with Matt's results on cracking the Toyota ECU.

Was a previous owner of a 2017 Tacoma with the tune and it made that truck sing. Hoping it would improve the T4Rs 4.0. I'd be interested.

I have the ov tune (Naturally aspirated) on my 2010 Tacoma which has a 4.0 l without dual vvti. It doesn't do a lot imo. I dont think there will be much of a difference tuning the 4.0 4runner motor. If you are supercharged i think it will do a lot more.
