    Hello everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Savannah and I have a ‘97 4Runner (SR5). 2 Wheel drive.

Recently, I’ve been having trouble with my transmission “slipping”. I bought it back in November of last year, with 150,000miles. I’ve had a few cold starts. Sometimes when I put it in drive, I really have to press hard on the gas just to start moving. Any suggestions? Advice?

    1) check tranny fluid level
    2) check tranny fluid condition
    --- smell, color
    3) if dirty, change fluid. If clean but low, add clean fluid
    4) if clean and full, drain a quart and add a quart of Lucas Transmission Fix and plan for tranny service work in the future

Put your foot on the brake. Keep it on the brake. Put it in drive. Wait a 10 seconds. Put it in Reverse, Wait 10 seconds. Put in drive. Take foot off brake and drive away.

Mine's been doing this for something like 150k miles. Only on cold starts. Doesn't always do it. I can tell if I put her in reverse and it feels like she doesn't want to move after it shifts. Hard to describe.

Regardless: check your transmission fluid level.

Toyo tires with Fuel wheels, Carhart seat covers, getting started with some suspension mods
If you're having engagement issues only when cold, clutch pack lip seals are probably leaking until there is a little heat in the tranny
