I think that depends on your garage and climate.

My parents have had a fridge and freezer in their detached, non climate controlled garage since before I was born.

So I guess my answer is an 80's Kenmore.

I live in north central Florida myself , with family in south Mississippi (ie the 'hot as balls belt") most everybody I know has a regular fridge in their garage-several put their older one out there when they get a new one for the kitchen, and they seem to do fine as long as the rear side is clear of the wall by a few inches just like inside. my father in law has two in his workshop that are at least 20 years old and still going strong.

I picked up a used Samsung full size refrigerator off Craig’s list for $100 to put in my unheated garage. The seller was updating their kitchen and the old one needed a new home.

It’s been keeping beer cold for 5 years now. No reason to spend a fortune for a garage fridge…

We moved our whirlpool side by side from our kitchen to our detached garage in 2016 and it’s fine. We don’t keep much in it but drinks, not because it’s in the garage, but because it’s now 31 years old. Find one second handed and run with it.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
2nd hand…..Craigslist or Facebook marketplace, maybe scratch and dent deals from big box stores?
Currently I have a $40 CL large(+case of beer) dorm fridge on a bench in my shop, planning on a better quality one sometime.

Same. When we wanted to replace our standard white Whirpool (or ?) fridge with something nicer, we moved it into the garage. Been chugging along with no issues for 7 or 8 years now. The new one.... one control board replacement, a solenoid replacement and an ice maker with a mind of its own.

I have a side by side in my garage as well as a chest freezer. We keep drinks in the fridge and the chest freezer is for all my Hawk food and the game the hawks catch. IMG_0127.jpg

Bro just casually dropping his falconry habit in the garage fridge thread. (I assume it's still called falconry, even though you said hawks).

You got pics of the hawks?

Scottiezilla, yes, I bought the fridge for the back of the 4Runner. It works perfectly and kept the 100 quail frozen solid on our 2000 mile trip home. Now we just leave it in the 4runner for our cold drinks. Birds are all doing fine. I am flying a new young male every day just to build his confidence, so, not really hunting with him. Here is a picture of him in flight. The round thing in the middle of his back is the GPS transmitter that tracks and records his flight.

Schapplesepple IMG_0065.jpg IMG_8979.png IMG_4359.png IMG_6684.jpg IMG_2138.png yes, the sport is called falconry no matter what type of bird you fly. I have flown eagles, falcons, goshawks, coppers hawks, redtails, kestrels, Harris Hawks over my more than 30 years in the sport. I have posted pics of some of my birds on this site in the past, but, here are a couple.

Garlic, no, the hawks do not bring back the food back. Most of the things ( rabbits, squirrels) weigh almost as much as the hawk. The hawk catches the rabbit, squirrel, kills it on the spot and then will eat it if you give it the chance. We always carry food for the bird in our vest, so, we can get the hawk off the kill and take the game home.

Pretty cool man. Also noticed the antenna on your pup. Is that the garmin tracker? Have been eyeballing that for my dog that likes to disappear in the woods.

Those Hawks are awesome. Knew a guy in San Diego who had a couple Harris Hawks (I think). Kept them in a 2-story pen in his backyard. One story was for the Hawks. The other was for the doves/ pigeons he kept for their food.

Husky Mike, falconers with Harris Hawks are pretty common. Harris Hawks are great birds to work with. Most of us know each other.

Garlic, the collar on my pup is a Dogtra Pathfinder and it works great. The Garmin is a great collar also, but, very expensive. It was way out of my budget and the Pathfinder was half the price. I have had this collar for about 8years at least.

Schlapplesepple, fun to watch the birds do their thing. It usually happens right in front of you, so, you get to watch the chase and the kill. Some times the hawk misses, but, if you put a little food on the glove the bird will fly and land on the glove. What state do you live in?

I’ve got one I moved from the first floor to the garage because of a flood and I’m in NY so wild temp swings between winter and summer. It actually is an older kenmore that has never given me a problem. I’ve been though 3 fancy refrigerators each between 4-5 thousand dollars and this extra $1000 10 year old kenmore outlasted all of them and has never been a problem
