Hey from Colorado!

Hey all, I hit a deer in June and contrary to what I thought, insurance totaled my FJ which I had for almost 10 years to the day.

Long story short, after a lot of soul searching I decided to move to a 4runner, and something that I didnt have to build up again, so I ended up with a 2017 TRD Pro that has an aftermarket bumper and winch, so I really do not have to do anything other than build a storage box for the back.

I couldnt be happier, and that isnt to say that I wasnt sad about my FJ, that truck will be missed, but I am looking forward to this new adventure, that and figuring out what I can and cannot fix myself on this one.

I do have one observation about the community though, and granted this is early on, I just bought this rig last Thursday night, but the FJ Community would waive, it was a point of pride for us, and I have waived at no less than 5/6 4Runners and get nothing back, so maybe its just me.

Anyways, glad to be here, forums like this are amazing in the fact that tribal knowledge has a place to be stored.

These days I'm trying to help a friend not to buy a new 4Runner who has a 2007 FJ with manual trans. LoL. FJ have no issues whats so ever. I'm a fan of that FJ more than the owner where it has no roof rack, no moonroof, has a white roof, had rock rails. All factory, no after market stuff. It's just me who is worried that 2024 4runner with all the fancy tech.

Its insane for fast the 5th gen sells here. 2024 TRD Pro was available in Mountain states Toyota at 4:30pm the day before and when we check next day morning it was gone. Its like when a 4R is in the lot we call and reserve and run taking a day off. Or reserve unseen.

Yeah, I went to Utah last week for work and looked at another FJ that was built up like mine, and in the end decided to not get it. So I pivoted and started looking at 4Runners here in Colorado, but last Thursday I saw mine for sale in SLC, so I went and looked at it after work, ended up driving it home the next day.

The FJ market is the same today as it was in 2014 when I bought mine, she will be missed but it was time for a change.

So far I am loving it, although opening the door to the garage is weird now with this white beast in there versus the blue one before. :/

 

That could be it, in the FJ it was easier to see people, I will admit that.
