Wifes highway commuter, 2016 4Runner Limited, 64k miles, Xreas failure right and left front.
    The dealership wants $4900
I have been searching for posts trying to find part numbers and what people installed but not finding anything. Wouldnt mind leveling it but need to keep it close to stock hight (wife is short, lol) and smooth highway riding. A local mom and pop shop will do the work but id like to kind of know what I am looking for.

Most will tell you to remove the X-REAS and just replace with standard shocks and springs from the manufacturer of your choice.

Xreas is will be deleted, there are serious issues with the lastest generation Xreas struts. I didnt have any issues with them other than failure and cost. The ride was great!
I was hoping to find some part #'s or maybe hear what people have used that worked for the best ride so I am not going into this blind and not knowing what to expect for ride comfort. It is a commuter highway rig, I'm not looking for an offroad suspension.

Then just look for some one that has taken off their stock suspension for a lift and replace the XREAS with it. Where are you located?

Just read most of the messages about this XREAS suspension. This just happened to me at 85K miles. Simply does not make sense for my local dealer to tell me this is "normal"! I am getting it replaced with the "conventional" suspension at half the price. I hope i am doing the right thing. Is there a Toyota Headquarter's address that we can write to?

What doesn’t make sense for them to say is normal, the shock leaking at 85K? That’s a wear item, there nothing not normal about a shock giving out with that many miles. They are not and never will be forever parts.

My 2008 sport has 162K and still on original XREAS. While happy with it will not replace it. To me it's just not worth the cost.

While you could definitely disable Xreas and replace it with the SR5's or Offroad's stock suspension, you might be disappointed with the way it handles on your vehicle.

The point of Xreas is to add some stability to on road handling. The stock SR5 and Offroad suspension is notoriously soft and squishy. It will definitely have more body roll when turning, nose dive when braking, and bounce when going over bumps then what you're used to.

You're definitely going to want to disable Xreas so you don't have to pay for repairing it, but you're probably going to want to replace your suspension with something aftermarket that's firmer than the stock components. Bilstein and Eibach make stock replacement shock for our vehicles and the handling will be a lot closer to what you're used to on the road, even though these are often considered "offroad shocks." They handle on road conditions very well......better than stock components. I personally recommend going with Eibach because I've tried both and definitely preferred the Eibachs. Their shocks ride fantastic, IMO.

Oh bummer, I'm on the opposite coast. Shipping would prob not be worth it. You should be able to find some take offs pretty easily out there.

Can anyone confirm that 4Runners with Xreas have different springs than non-Xreas models?

    The springs are the same.
The 4wd vs 2wd are the only changes, the 4wd has a taller spring.
