Will a 2” rear coil spring level with a 3.5” in the front?

    Hello T4R community!
    My planned set up-
    Front : 1” Spacer + 2.5” Strut = 3.5”
    Rear: 1” Spacer + 1” Coil Spring = 2”
I was wondering if a 2” coil spring would level with a 3.5” front OR should I get a 2” spacer + my 1” coil spring to accumulate 3” spring to level with the 3.5” in the front?

That would come close to level, but the spacer/coilover conversation is involved. Depending on your chosen coilover, a 1/2" shim might work, equating to an inch of lift. You are probably better off going with either a spacer lift OR a coilover that will get you where you want to be. Whichever method you choose, at 3.5" you bring UCA's, longer brake lines, bump stops, and possibly a differential drop into the list of items to address. There are many options, and many people have had issues with spacers, while others swear by shims. Up to 1/2" of shims seems popular with many of the Tacoma crowd. Some options could damage the shock if you are on rough terrain, maxing out the travel. Others could limit down travel.

    This thread might help:

There was another lengthy post from a member here documenting issues he had with a spacer lift and the rear shocks topping out, but I can't find it right now.

It has never been recommended to combine lifts.

Spacers alone can be used, or shocks that used different coils, but neve the two together.

Not only that, coilovers alone can add too much lift to these vehicles. Adding a spacer on top of that? Horrible idea.

Don't do it. This is an IFS vehicle and one that works well keeping a lift at 2" or below.
