just curious if anyone knows when 5th gen production will end. my local toyo dealer is fairly high volume and they've gone from consistently having 20+ new 4runners in stock down to just a couple of them in recent weeks now

    Oooh look, another mod.....
There is less than 4 months left in this fiscal year. I think it's safe to assume that production has (probably) officially stopped on the 5th Gen 4Runners. If not, they will stop making them by Oct. Historically that's when most manufacturers roll out the next model year.

FWIW: Toyota's fiscal year always ends on March 31

From some fleet web sites, 6th gen production was slated to begin Sep 1, that's 27 days from now, though it's been reportedly delayed to Dec due to parts shortages. I would expect 5th gen production to have ended already.

When I picked up my 2024 this week the sales manager said production ended mid July and they weren't getting anymore. Like anything a salesman says, take it with a grain of salt.

Normally (I bought a few 5th gens) they arrive on us soil to the stealerships around October (I’ve bought a few new year models in October) so makes sense that they would discontinue them around now

I got my 2017 taco in the end of August 2016, so my assumption is they switch over July/August for new model year. I have read from a few folks, they are done producing the 5th gen 4Runner.

Toyota will have a date when allocations have stopped. They will continue to make 5th gen 4Runners until all of those allocations have been filled. They are pretty efficient at their manufacturing and won’t make a unit more or less than the number that they have.

My 2023 4Runner was manufactured in August 2022, shipped to the states in September and I was driving it by October. If Toyota is ready to go no they'll stop production of the 5th and begin the 6th. If not, they'll keep making the 5th until that time.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the question, but the 2024 is still on the Toyota web site to order.

I doubt you can “order” at this point. It’s might help you find something in local inventory, and connect you with a sales person. Yota is slow to take them down, I think it’s to their advantage.

The 23 was taken down before the 24 was offered. I sold me 2018 with the intention of buying a 24 so I was checking the web site every day. After seeing the price increase I decided to go in another direction.

That could be true. I live in the St. Louis area and the Chicago region offers rebates that aren't available here.

Very few occasions will you find one of the best vehicle/engine combos that Toyota ever made actually discounted on a dealer lot. I’d buy a baker’s dozen if possible.

B/c no matter how good Gen6 turns out to be, as soon as Gen5’s are off the new car market, “forever” will seem like an even longer time, at least for traditional Toyota fans.
