I have a 2017 trd pro 4Runner and the cabin pressure is almost unbearable. The air filter looks fine. Has anyone else had this issue? Really need some help here.

Must be a pilot or submarine operator thing.
I too have no clue compared to other Toyotas I've owned or even compered to Subaru, Ford, Nissan and BMW I used short term, no noticeable difference.

Are you talking about when you have the rear door windows open a little and the sonic noise almost makes your ears bleed?

I’ve never thought about cabin pressure in cars. Feels fine to me.

No, it’s while driving and it’s worse at higher speeds. I’ve never had this issue in any other car.

Similar to the pressure in your ears ascending in an airplane except it doesn’t go away. I’ve never had pressure issues inside a vehicle before with the windows up.

Do the doors close easily or act like they are being kind of held off by air pressure that can't escape through a vent. IDK about the 4R but some vans have a couple of one way outlet vents to allow air to escape when doors are being closed. If these get blocked, air can get into the cab but not out.

I found that thread as well. I’m going to have those checked by a mechanic on Monday but wasn’t sure if those would be the reason as I don’t seem to have any issues with the doors not shutting correctly. I’ve been out of the car for about an hour now and my ears and head are still hurting from the pressure so I haven’t had a chance to check changing the air setting yet. Sorry for the vagueness I’ve only had a Toyota for a little over a week now and I’ve never had this issue with any of my other cars so I’m not certain how to describe it.

And yes, in case my lack of knowledge isnt apparent, I’m a female and can admit I know just enough about cars to be dangerous. I’ve been researching this on my own all day and haven’t had any real luck.

just as a reference. I have a 2011 SR5 with 168k and have never touched those rear filters mentioned earlier. I also have significant/sensative hearing issues and never experiences thise pressures in either one of my cars at any speed, etc. hope you find out whats happening.

Yeah, I can’t seem to find anyone else that’s had this issue or even knows what I’m talking about. I just bought the car last week and I’m afraid I’m going to have to get rid of it already if I can’t figure this out.

Cracking the windows seemed to help but the even weirder thing is I had to crack all the windows, included the tailgate window, before I felt any significant relief. I’ve been driving it around town for a week now but didn’t really have a problem until I drove on the interstate today.

did you check that the sunroof is closed all the way?

Maybe try opening all windows and closing them again (including the sunroof)?

No sunroof. Open and closed all the windows to make sure none of them were slightly cracked and they weren’t obviously.

It will be interesting to see your results with the air source in recirculation.

Another thought, rent a different 4Runner for a day, or if you know someone that has one and get on the freeway and see if you have the same discomfort. Or get a free test drive in any 4Runner they might have on the lot and see what happens.

From what you are saying, it seems as though that outside air is able to enter the cabin as "ram air" possibly where the air enters the cabin at the blower motor. The intake for that is underneath your right wiper blade.

I have never quite heard of this, but there was a time that all cars were mandated to run the blower motor at slow speed and enter the cabin at your feet even with the air conditioner / heat system in off. I remember GM cars doing this back in the day, but I'm old. The idea was to always have a bit of fresh air entering the interior when the car was running.
