    Hello,

I recently purchased a 2024 4Runner Limited, and I LOVE IT! I don't understand why I waited years to get one...
The main issue I am having, honestly I have no idea why it does this, but when I am driving at freeway speed for at least 20-30 minutes, there is a loud beeping noise from the dash. It beeps 5 times, pauses, then 5 more beeps and then stops. Nothing lights up on the dash, no warning lights or anything letting me know why. It's so random, it happened 4 times so far. I've owned this new since April 2024. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciate. It is the weirdest thing I've run into.

Think back. Did it maybe happen when you had something in the passenger seat that wasn't quite as heavy as a human, but maybe 20-25lbs or so? Groceries, maybe a case or two of sodas? If that is the case, what you're probably hearing is a seat belt warning. When you hit a slight bump in the road, it created just enough force for that 20lb sack of groceries to become 40lbs of down force momentarily. The warning sounded, the pressure was released and no further warning happened. Fast forward 2 weeks until the same convergence of events occurred and there's your warning again.

We had this exact situation on our 22 Limited (our 21 Venture didn't do it).
Workaround: And.... I'm not suggesting that you do this (totally up to you), but FYI - the audio portion of the seatbelt warning can be disabled with an OBD2 manager like Carista. Again, I am not suggesting that you disable a seat belt warning (that's up to you), but when this happens audio will not be triggered. The red seatbelt visual warning light on the panel cannot be bypassed with an OBD2 manager and will still trigger.

    Good luck.

Yep - what @Texoma-Brad suggested has also happened to me because my laptop bag is heavy as hell.

    Hey Brad...

I had a full grown adult sitting in the passenger side seat during each time it happened. It's definitely not a seatbelt waring light or malfunction. It's just some random, weird noise. I wish I could do a video, but it happens when you don't expect it. As mentioned, this only happens after I've been on the road for at least 20-30 minutes. I've checked everything, except the Sway Warning which doesn't seem to do much anyway.

TPMS reaction time is 20 minutes if a sensor is going bad, but as far as I know you just get the amber tire pressure light and no beeping.

    Dash cam?

Dealer installed tracker? Is the OBD2 plug in its OEM bracket? Follow the wires up with a mirror and flashlight, do you see a breakout cable?

I think there is rest reminder you can adjust in the gauge cluster screen. However, you should see a coffee cup symbol when the alert happens.

I hope I don't have a dealer installed tracker! I paid cash for this, so it better not have a tracker! Yikes. The only thing I plugged into the OBD2 port is the Banks Pedal Monster. This noise was happening before I added it. FYI, get one if you don't have one! What a huge difference it makes with holding shift points better. Worth it!!!
Sorry for getting off track, but I will do some digging this weekend and look for anything out of the ordinary.

Some dealers install a tracker before any customer ever sees the vehicle, regardless of financing situation. Since it isn't a Toyota accessory, the work is usually farmed out to a cut-rate stereo shop. The dealer typically doesn't pay a tech to remove it if you pay cash.

My first guess was the lane departure warning, but I'm pretty sure that gives a visual indication too.

Too poor to buy anything now
The visual is only in the outside mirror though. The warning beep can be set to silent.

Yes and the driver can turn off LDA. In my Tacoma I turn it off in day to day driving, only enabling it in long drives where I might doze.
    You're thinking blind spot monitoring?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

We can all guess at what the noise is, but without a video that's all we can offer....random ass guesses. Take a video please and post it in this thread.

What Borracho said. But, if you can get us a video, it’d be a lot easier. Take it by the dealership have them put an OBD2 reader on it and see if it threw a code when it happened. Probably didn’t, but worth a try and they won’t charge since it’s under warranty.

I second this. Try turning off the lane departure and see if it's still giving you the beep. If the sensitivity is set too high, it will give false alerts.

My new to me 2022 TRD Pro does the same random beeping pattern as yours but only just after startup. Transmission still in park. It doesn’t do it very often. Only happened a few times so far. The only thing I can think is it’s the dash cam. And it’s not a factory sounding beep. I’m pretty sure it’s the dash cam but I don’t know why yet.

This actually was happening to me while I was trying to take delivery of my new '24 Limited. Turned out of he nonstop beeping was because the memory card had not been installed in the camera; once installed, it stopped. Now it will been when you do thinks like slam your door too hard or bump the camera itself. Bottom line, check out the owners manual for the camera...theres a lot of helpful info in there about why the damn thing beeps so much.
