I own a 2003 4Runner sr5 v6 with 240k and every time I start it it switches into 4hi even if the dial is set to 2hi… any suggestions? Other than that the 4wd system functions perfectly

I would suggest posting this in the 4th Gen subform instead of Wheels and Tires. You are likely to receive more replies.

My guess would be an electrical switching short of some kind.

Well, not to be a dick, but if you can't figure that out then I don't have much hope for you figuring out root cause.

How do you know 4wd switches perfectly?

Alright, sorry, definitely being a dick. But how do you know 4wd system is functioning perfectly?

Is it actually in 4wd when turned on and switch is set to 2wd or is the light just turning on? If it functions perfectly, how do you get it back into 2wd? Switch to 4 and then back to 2?
