    Hello Learned Forum Members,

I have been researching the popular 285/70r17 for my next set of tires for the 4runner ('24). However havent really found any useful comparisons from a weight stand point for the E rated offerings of BFG and MT. Per manufacturer's websites the weights listed are 58.2 lbs vs 63 lbs, and the diameter difference is 32.8 vs 33. I currently run E rated 275/70r17 which I pulled from my old 2017 4runner (weighing in at 56.1 lbs). I really want to do the MTs but am concerned about the additional 7lb/tire weight. Re-gearing is a distant plan and for now would want to safely run the tires without damaging OG toyota parts or steering abilities. Would love for anyone running either one of these tires to weigh in. Thanks in advance for your time.

    Cheers!

Kings, Crestone Rack, Baja S8, Baja Fogs, Baja XL80s, Baja mini cubes, SPOD, ARB compressor, RCI full skids, ROAM box and stuff. ST Pros. Shrockworks sliders... GOAT armour
I have C rated K02s 265/70-17 weigh about 46lbs they drive very nice
I have E rated K03s 265/70-17 weigh about 56.5lbs they drive heavy.. comfortable but noticeably slower and heavier.

That said so far the 3 seems more comfortable than the 2.

Save weight if you can. I wouldve gone with lighter 3 but they dont make one yet in 265-C.

I just looked up the weight of my Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT 285/70 tires at 63 pounds! I’m averaging 17 mpg, and my 4Runner drives great. But I do wonder now how a lighter tire would feel.

Edit: The Baja Boss I have is listed at 48 pounds.

285 BFG C load on my 4Runner. No complaints after 20K miles. Just get rotations and balance every 5K.
