2023 4Runner puddle lights

I recently noticed that my puddle lights don't turn on anymore whenever I unlock or go near the truck with my key fob in the pocket . When i got it last year the puddle lights were turning on and working. I tried the exterior light setting on the head unit and nothing happens. My bulbs are original factory stock .

What are puddle lights and how often are you driving in puddles? Do they work when fully submerged?

 

This is at night? I only ask because they are pretty much undetectable during the day unless you upgrade. They could simply be burned out but you would have to take them out and check for voltage at the plug. A simple attempt to fix might be to disconnect the battery for a bit to let everything reset.

 

Yes , both are not working. Tried all the settings in the menu. Weird thing is it was working when i got the truck brand new.

 

Yes, I checked it in pitch dark , i looked at the bottom and nothing illuminated.

I highly doubt there is a separate fuse to check so I can only think to check for power at the socket.

 

Thats what i read in the forums also that there are no dedicated fuse for the puddle light .Thats the last resort. It's a pain to dismantle the side mirrors . If i do then i might as well get the meso customs led puddle light.

Make sure your 4R is locked, then unlock it.

 

There is a terrain camera system option in the later years that offers garbage resolution.

 

Yes mine is equipped with the 360 cameras.

 

Then you're stuck with a bulb replacement unless Meso has a camera specific replacement.

 

Make sure the instrument panel light brightness is not turned all the way down.

 

I think by footwell lights they mean the actual footwell lights in the Limited but it can't hurt to try.

I tried. My puddle lights come on regardless of the position of the instrument panel dimmer switch.

How long was your 4Runner sitting locked before noticing the puddle lights weren’t coming on when you walked up to your truck? I’m asking because I believe the system that activates the lights goes to sleep after an extended period of time. I noticed my puddle lights weren’t coming on when I walked up to my 2021 after it sat locked for five to six days. If I walk up to the drivers door with my remote in hand after a day or two the puddle lights will come on.
Unlock the doors with the remote and open the drivers door, close it, lock the doors with the remote, and walk away. After a few minutes walk up to the drivers door with the remote in hand and see if the puddle lights come on.

 

The truck was sitting locked either for few hours or overnight .When i got the truck last year i was fully aware my off road premium comes equipped with the puddle light. I checked it when i got it and it works whenever i am close to the truck with my fob the interior lights and the puddle lights comes . Also when i unlock the truck with the key fob the puddle lights comes on.
