So I noticed that the new Quick Trip that just opened had non ethanol gas about .35 per gallon cheaper than I am currently paying. Then when I got home I double checked and found out that Quick Trip is no longer Top Tier- they guarantee their gas to be real but don’t mention anything about detergents and additives that keep your engine running clean.

I have always used Top Tier; I was wondering what you folks think about switching. I do not doubt the quality of their gas but does it really cost that much to to add the additives to make it Top Tier??

UPDATE***. Per QT/ Quick Trip’s Corporate website… their gasoline is Top Tier…. So I guess I will be getting gas there and save .30 gallon.

Personally I'd stick with a top tier gas. As mentioned above you could add a Techron additive but then it's probably a wash so in the end you're not saving anything anyways so why hassle with it.

Yeah…. I thought the same thing. Techron is pretty pricey even when you find it on sale.

I always run top tier in mine. That said, you may find that running pure gas nets you an extra mile or so of MPG. You’ll have to do the cost/benefit solving on your own using top tier E10 vs pure-gas non-top tier. That said, IMHO top tier is worth the extra cost.

The one mitigating factor about our Gen5 engines, is they’re not GDI and might be a “bit” less problematic when it comes to carbon buildup on injectors. Again, that’s your call but just wanted to mention that.

I get 95% of my gas from QT. It looks like they are still selling top-tier gasoline.

I think I initially got my misinformation off of Reddit. I just verified at the Top Tier website that they are indeed certified. I tried to delete the post but couldn’t…. Oh well…good to see we all think alike and use Top Tier…..lol

Gas is gas. Just try to avoid mom and pops unless they’re normally busy.

I don't worry too much on gas for my old school 4Runner that doesn't even have direct injection. I sometimes pump Sams club gas which is not rated as Top-Tier gas. As long as I have 87oct gas and if the gas station is quickly moving I have no problem with it. Sinclair gas station is the most convenient to me and the prices are hovering around 2.79/gal - 3.19/gal for 87oct gas, so never bothered about prices.
