Fox shocks were too soft in my experience. I went Kings this time.

Provide a goal, and you can get a good recommendation.

But generally speaking, those Fox 2.0 are a waste in any situation.

The suggestion of Kings is one without good reason.

just for daily use, running errands around town, don’t need anything fancy

just to be clear, are you saying fox are subpar quality or they are meant for applications well beyond what most people need (I.e top quality)?

didn’t even look em up because I filtered based on the year and model feature they offer.

only the 2.0s came up as a result, but very good to know you’re able to use 2.5’s (assuming without having to make any modifications)

Get KYB, they are like the stock ride which is the best choice for daily use, comfortable, affordable, and well made

My only experience with Fox was in MTB, they lasted 15 years. I know Fox is a premium brand, many oems will offer them as an upgrade

I wouldn’t do it if I were you unless there was something unique they had. Bilstein, KYB, and OME all offer products for less and I’ve seen people have luck with them. Sachs also is reputable and makes them for the 4runner.

I think spending that much is unnecessary if you’re doing normal commuting and errands.

do you think fox is a step above in terms of longevity/reliability? Or are the other brands you mentioned just as or more reliable/able to last with proper care?

    thanks again for your time

Those brands are just as reliable. It's overkill, the Fox shocks tend make sense if you're racing or other high performance applications, but you'll never need it for the type of driving you said you'll be doing. I'd save my money.

Search up threads about the product you intend to buy, and they'll be people who will have more inciteful experience than I can provide.

Fox are top-tier shocks in the 2.5 form if you get them tuned to your vehicle and the 2.0s are good, but you're paying for a name. They also aren't as good on-road as a Bilstein setup at a much lower price. The 5100/5160 combo is by far the best bang for the buck combo for an on-road Toyota and you can step up to the 6112 in front if you feel you need a bit more damper.

    Just follow @Trekker advice.

People are too quick to push what they want to buy or bought themselves without ever really considering your use.
