Spent the day at AllenFab on Saturday in Lakeland, FL getting the rear bumper built. A couple of little things left to do on my 22 TRD OR Premium and she’s done…for now. Lol. There’s been a lot done in the first 13k miles.

This is what’s left to do:
DRT Fab spindle gussets (awaiting install)
CaliFab adjustable rear links (waiting on delivery)
Powerstop Z36 front and rear brakes (awaiting install)

Spent the last couple days in Clayton, GA with the kids and grandkid. Played on a few trails while we were up here. Was a good shakedown for the current build. Blew out a panhard bushing on this trip, hopefully the CaliFab adjustable rear links and panhard show up soon.

No rubbing at all with these 35’s, so I’m happy.

I must admit, I’m kinda jelly when looking at your rig. Very nice build man.

Well, she’s as fully built as she’s gonna get for now.

There is not a single piece of factory suspension left on the rig. CaliFab rear links have been installed, test run, and adjusted. DRT Fab spindle gussets have been glued in by Timbo’s Customs and the only thing left to do now is beat her up in the rocks.

    Nice work man!

I don’t know if you remember, I’d 63 swapped my truck after watching your Tacoma build. I lost interest and ended up spending more time in the boat than wheeling on the weekends, so I sold the Tacoma.
Just bought a 4Runner a few weeks ago.
I’m not gonna build this one though. Maybe. :D

    Yeah, no shit.
I remember when I bought the Tacoma and said “just a modest lift and some tires”.

Curious if you've tried the AT3 tires and how those compare with the RT.

I know you’re not asking me, but i had the AT2’s, they were ok. I thought about the RT’s, but I wanted more aggressive, so I went BFG KM3’s. I’m very impressed with the bfg’s, balanced good nd ride nice. All i run is Toyo MT on my Tacoma though, 3rd set and ready for another set.

So did you have to lose the BSM/rear cross traffic alert with that bumper?

I had the AT3’s on my F150 and didn’t like them. They were noisier than the RT’s and the traction wasn’t great on wet roads.

Yes. If I could rip all the TSS garbage out, I would.

Gotcha. I like the cross traffic alert personally, but everyone has different tastes.

Built a rear storage/sleeping platform for the rig for my solo trips. Also picked up an Inspired Overland clamshell RTT for the Colorado/Utah trip this summer. It’ll be me, the GF, and my 13 year old going and there’s not room for all of us in the tent. So, this was my solution.

The tent is only 87 pounds and the 4R doesn’t even know it’s up there. I’m not seeing any significant mpg loss, maybe .5mpg, if that. Will be doing a shakedown run in a couple weeks to get the GF use to non-campground camping.

I had a couple of 4x8 sheets of poplar plywood in the garage so I used it to build the platform. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s functional.

Really nice rig. I am curious how much flex in the front you have achieved with your setup. Will appreciate some pictures.

I am curious too, lol. Really, the only times I feel like it’s been flexed to its max is when I’ve been out solo or haven’t had anyone in front to take a pic. I’ll get some this summer while I’m out west where it’s less flat.

Got out in the woods for a short camping trip over the weekend to get the girlfriend accustomed to not camping in a campground. Didn’t do much wheeling aside from a quick run through the WMA.

lol, yeah, had to tighten up a skid plate bolt on the passenger side because it was loose. It was just easier to park it like that for 5 minutes than get the jack out.

Got bored sitting around the house on a lazy Tuesday. So I decided to finally get the lights mounted on the roof rack. These have been sitting on a shelf in the garage for 10 months.

Colorado/Utah 2024 trip is complete, but not without some minor carnage. Got to Colorado on the 7th and spent the first night in Sand Dunes NP.
    IMG_4938.jpg
    IMG_9440.jpg
Drove Medano Pass from the east side into the park. Great trail and a good starter for the trip. Had a few spots that needed some line choice but nothing a stock rig couldn’t do.

The morning of the 8th we packed up and headed toward Creede to pick up Stony Pass into Silverton. Ended up staying at the Grand Imperial in Silverton for the night because I was sick. The morning of the 9th we met up with @StoneyRanger to run the Alpine Loop.
    IMG_9656.jpg
    IMG_9539.jpg IMG_9622.jpg IMG_5080.jpg IMG_5076.jpg IMG_5079.jpg
We ran into some road repair coming down Cinnamon Pass

The morning of the 10th we set out to run Imogene Pass from Ouray into Telluride. Both girls woke up not feeling well that morning and by the time we got to Telluride, the GF had a fever and was ready to chill. Fortunately, she had friends in Telluride who invited us to come stay at their condo.
    IMG_4960.jpg
    IMG_1805.jpg
    IMG_9654.jpg

On the 12th, everyone was feeling better so we pressed west to Moab.
    IMG_9710.jpg
We arrived in Moab around lunchtime and found a riverside campsite at Goose Island. We set up and then set out to go run Onion Creek so the girls could get a feel for the scenery around Moab.
    IMG_5032.jpg
My buddy, Will, came up from Flagstaff to join us for a few days. The morning of the 13th we ran Fins n Things and Hells Revenge. Will did both in his stock 2024 F150 FX4. Lots of line picking and spotting for him!
    IMG_5105.jpg IMG_5106.jpg IMG_5107.jpg
On the way to Hell’s Gate, I bent a rear bump stop mount which caused my right rear bump stop to pinch my rear ABS harness which lit my dash up like a Christmas tree. Luckily, having the manual transfer case allowed me to keep 4wd function but I lost ATRAC and the ability to activate my rear locker. We finished up Hell’s Revenge and headed to the store to get stuff to fix the harness. We got back to camp and spliced the broken harness back together.

The next day, the 14th, we took it easy and ran Gemini Bridges, Long Canyon, Hurrah Pass, and Chicken Corners. Long day on the trails.
    IMG_9879.jpg IMG_9878.jpg IMG_9857.jpg IMG_5108.jpg
The splice job ended up not holding so I had more issues. We respliced the harness again back at camp. The morning of the 15th we packed up and began the trek back to South Florida. The splice job held all the way to Beaumont, TX where a truck tire blew right in front of me and I ran over shards of rubber that took out the harness again. We pressed eastward, calling every Toyota dealership along the way to see if they had or could get the harness same day or next day to no avail. So, we drove the rest of the way home with no cruise control. So fun. lol.
