One thing I have learned is if you love your 4-Runner lt will love you right back.

 

Flying my Harris Hawk today and took these pictures. This Hawk has been going up into a thermal and soaring around. When I am ready to bring him down, I swing a leather lure that has food (quail) tied to it. The hawk sees it (great eyesight) and instantly starts dropping towards the lure. The term for that is stooping. Hawks and eagles are not real graceful like a falcon doing this. The falcon tucks its legs up to their body while the hawks and eagles let their legs hang down. That allows the falcon to generate much more speed than hawks or eagles. The first picture is the hawk stooping towards the lure, the 2nd picture is just before the hawk hits the lure. The small feathers on the top of the wings are the air brakes and are called allua’s.

 

Hummingbird and trumpet vine, facing into late-afternoon sun. Frequently challenging for me to get a good photo when the sun isn't behind me. Lots of hot spots to deal with, and the bird looks grainy.

You're getting some good ones

 

Thank you again. We've had a lot of hummingbird activity, so I decided to try to catch some pics yesterday. Finally did late afternoon. I normally use the P900 because of the zoom, but this time I decided to use my bigger Nikon with 'only' a 300mm zoom. This allowed me to stop the wings due to a bigger aperture/faster shutter speed. Hadda go with hand-held in this situation. Birds were about 20 feet away or thereabouts.

 

We had a full moon last night here in north MS. Got some early morning shots before heading into work. Most of these were using "night mode" on the phone. So they look brighter than it actually was outside.

 

This guy was checking me out for a while yesterday in my back yard.
