I agree with Kmeeg that 4runners 2020 and newer are loaded with electronic "safety" features. Some people love all the new automatic braking, steering and throttle control now in new vehicles.
Out of warranty I forsee expensive repairs on these "safety" systems. I like radar on a sailboat, but not the front of a vehicle just to maintain safe separation from vehicles ahead of you.
If I decide to drive over a median I do not want my throttle, brakes and steering to interfere.

And you still can, PCS is meant for unexpected obstacles and absent-mindedness (or distraction for whatever reason) and isn’t going to stop folks from heading off-road in 2H or 4H. (4L turns them off automatically)

Minor note but 2020-2024 4Runners and other Toyota’s with “TSS-P” (Toyota Safety Sense P?) lack any computer steering functionality.

The radar cruise doesn’t stop the vehicle either under typical usage, it disengages at 25 MPH and below.

I did get to try a more comprehensive system in an Ascent in LA traffic and it was surprisingly neat. It needed to be prompted to go after coming to a complete stop but I was impressed.

For like the fifth time on here, all of those systems are pretty unobtrusive, and easily turned off. (Even the emergency brake warning).

I know it's out of fashion these days, but you guys should really learn what you're talking about before you go telling others how horrible it is.

Anecdotally, Subaru seems to have the nicest driver aids of any car I've tried. My sister's 2015 is more refined than any Acura, Lexus, Volvo, or Toyota we've tried, ranging from 2017 to 2023. Although the system in our 2022 Rav is pretty good.

You can always turn it off. Fortunately, the Toyota system stays off when you restart the car.

I don't think you can turn it off? you can lower the sensitivity , but the lane departure warning is the only thing you can turn off. The pedestrian detection and auto braking feature , well that' on all the time. someone more tech savvy than me can chime in on this topic........:D

Well, you were coming up fairly quickly on an almost-stopped vehicle. If my wife was driving and I was in the passenger seat, I probably would have mashed my imaginary brake pedal. FWIW, I haven't had the PCS kick in yet.

I agree. That video shows a late braking scenario coming up on stopped traffic at a pretty aggressive pace.
