2015 4Runner trd pro- alternator

Hello everyone,
My alternator went out this morning, when I took it to my mechanic, they said the alternator was gonna be & $1100. Will some please tell why it’s so much?

 

Rock Auto, $200. Mechanic might have to make a boat payment or something, shouldn't be even close to $1100, even with the installation. Don't pay that stupid price, order it today!

Go somewhere else. You can get a Mechman alternator for less than half that.

Does no one youtube repair vehicles anymore?

First thing I do to see if I want to tackle it or not.

 

I've run into a number of shops that only use OEM/manufacturer parts after being burned by aftermarket and customer-provided parts. Could be that the Toyota-branded alternator is expensive.

I'd also explore getting it rebuilt but I'm not too familiar with alternators, just that I hear a lot about it being annoying getting a working one.
