High extend warranty quote for my new 4Runner

Getting quoted from dealer in Arlington,Tx of $5396.00 for 72 mo.,75000mi. Good God, can't afford that with what I just paid them for the vehicle $47,477. Could someone provide the phone # for Jerry Johnson in Kansas? Really feel "Family Toyota Of Arlington" is trying to wring me out! I'm new here so any help would be appreciated!

 

LOL. Damn! I bought my 4Runner from the same place. They gave me a great deal on my 4Runner but I gave 'em the finger when they tried to sell me an extended warranty. It's a Toyota, there's a high probability that I'll never need one.

 

Wonder of that's a popular price for all the Dealers! I agree with you on the quality of Toyota. That's why I bought a new 2024. Did not want the 2025's due to their 4cyl dual turbo's. Really feel those will be a headache for Toyota.

 

Did they ask you to provide the sand too?

shop around and you can get it for thousands less.

By the way remember Texas Toyota dealers are part of GST. What they are going to sale you is not really a “Toyota Factory” extended warranty. It’s a GST (Gulf State Toyota Distributor) warranty. It’s similar to an actual Toyota warranty but not exactly the same.

Find a dealer in another state that uses Toyota corporate as their distributor and you can get a real Toyota extended warranty for much less. Jerry is a good example of this.

the last time I checked he can get you a 7/125k for around $1200. I am sure it’s gone up a bit just like everything else. But so has labor hours at a shop and parts cost.

 

Based on the profile looks like OP has a trusty SR5. I don't know if Extended warranty is needed unless you buy a 4Runner with KDSS or XREAS.
I don't think I've seen others fail.

 

It does not take much to spend 1200 on a repair if something goes wrong. Yes a 5th gen is reliable but I would be willing to bet in a 10 year ownership something or something’s will go wrong that will cost that much. There are lots of people that have things that need to be repaired but they ignore because they think it’s not to bad i.e. small oil leaks.

 

There us a thread on this site somewhere about who to contact for best extended warranty. You don't have to go through the dealership. If I remember correctly, his price was somewhere around 2-2.5k

I opted to skip the extended warranty. I bought a 4runner due to its reputation for reliability

I took the same gamble. 40k miles on my 2022 with no issues.
I've beat on my rig pretty hard and it's holding up great. It's taken me from Texas to OK, AR, LA, NM, AZ, CA.
Hoping to add Colorado and Utah soon.

Agreed with many here whom recommend you shop around. I bought a Honda Goldwing motorcycle a few years back and the dealer wanted a couple of grand for an extended warranty. I had 12 months to shop around and found one online from another dealer across the country for about $700 bucks. I received my warranty and card from the Honda factory just as I would have anywhere else.
