Hello, this is my first post here! Just picked up a 2000 4runner limited with 99k original miles, and a center and rear diff lock! couldn't be happier. One issue I've had so far is that my headlights are always on, no matter the position of the selector. They will never turn off. And just to clarify I'm talking about the actual headlights and not the DRLs. Any help would be appreciated!

Also, this black module sits right next to the headlights and I don't remember seeing this on my same era 01 Tacoma, could this be the culprit?

The headlights on our '99 Sienna are always on too. It's probably the same thing. It's supposed to be a DRL feature. Your running lights should be off and the headlights are slightly dimmer than when you turn them on with the switch. On our Sienna, if you start the car with your foot on the brake they aren't on, but shift to drive or reverse and remove your foot from the brake and they come on. I don't know if there's any way to disable them. YMMV

My 2000 Sienna had that 'feature'. In that, i just had to snip one wire from a harness. Unfortunately i can't point you to the corresponding wire on a 4runner but I'm sure that info is out there.

One way to determine if it really is a DRL thing: truck off, set your hand brake, start truck. If lights are off, then release hand brake. If they come on, it's DRLs, or related to them (as in maybe someone modified them so headlights are on).

Can't help you on the light issue, but the black module in your pic is your fuel pump relay
