Hello from Cadillac, MI. I'm trying to fix some issues on my son's 2012 4r Limited.

While trying to replace the door handles on my 2012 Limited I had trouble getting the old handle off, then went inside the door and broke the mechanism on the inside. What do you call that component and where do I find a replacement?

 

Welcome to the forum! Go to your local Toyota dealer parts department and they can show you a diagram of the internal door mechanisms, you then point to and say “that’s it”.

Wish I could help but I have no idea. Just a fellow Michigan guy saying hi. I used spend summer vacations in Cadillac growing up. We had cottages at Pilgrims Village and my Grandfather bought a Safe T Mate boat (now the 4Winns factory). That’s where my love for fishing and boating started as a kid. Thanks for the responses. I guess the dealership will be my next option. I was hoping someone else may have had trouble getting the old door handles off and would have a suggested solution. My other thought has been to check with a local body shop and see if they have had any experience with these.
