Power outlet not working?

Plugged my Garmin into my power outlet in my 4 Runner and could not get it to turn on-thought maybe battery was dead needed charging, brought Garmin in house and plugged into wall and it turned on and charged right up-could power outlet in Toyota be bad?If it is what are my options?

 

Here are some options:

1. Plug another accessory in to see if it works, and/or check the fuse.
2. Some plugs fit the outlet better than others. Sometimes the plugs resist being pushed all the way in, and the center contact doesn’t reach in far enough. So try plugging the Garmin onto the outlet again and see if it’s actually bottoming out in the outlet.

 

Item 2 above has always been an issue for me in other vehicles. Some plugs work all the time, some work only if I keep pushing them back in, some hardly work at all.

 

Did you turn on the outlet? There's a dash switch that turns it on.

If you did turn it on, do lights on the switch light up?

 

Is this the 12V outlet in the dash or the 110V AC outlet?

 

And you need to press that switch every time the truck is turned off and restarted.

 

are you talking about the power outlet (like the old cigarette lighter) up front? 1st check the fuse, but you could try one of the other outlets for the back seat too, they're all on the same fuse. Just did this yesterday on mine cos the front one wasn't working. turns out the center contact had a little carbon/crud on it. power off, carefully cleaned with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol and fixed it right up.
as for the house style outlet in the back....as others mentioned, gotta activate it with the switch up front

 

Also not mentioned is you need to have the ignition switch turned on to get power at the outlet.

 

I'm having the same issue. I just bought my 2022 TRD O.F. yesterday. I went to plug in my dash camera in the cigarette lighter and no power. I even tried the one in the center console. Neither works. We checked the fuses in the fuse box and it's all good. Probably check in with the dealership next week. Annoying that neither works.

 

Are you checking with the ignition on?

Did you try any other devices?

 

It was running and tried my dash camera and my small seat heater. Both worked in my wrangler that morning.

 

I'd take it back to the dealership and have them look at it. Hopefully it's something simple.

 

I'm having a similar issue, last weekend both 12v cigarette lighter outlets (1 in front console, 1 in center console,) both have stopped providing power to the power supplies plugged into each. I found the fuse, and don't have a match for it, so that is another issue.
My question is, do both of the 12v outlets have the same fuse? The USB power supplies, 1 in front console and 1 facing the 2nd row seats do work.
Are there separate fuses for 12v outlets?

 

My issue is the front 12v outlet in the center console will supply power just fine to my battery pack (solar generator / Bluetti) and charges at 100w. I checked that port and it is getting 13.85v. Then I went to the rear cargo area, and that port is also getting 13.85V when i check the plug that goes into the back of the battery pack. But when I plug it into the batter pack it starts to climb in input watts, getting up to around 75w on the display of the bluetti before falling back to 0w...it then just keeps repeating this cycle and never actually charging. Currently my work around is to use the inverter and the a/c adapter to charge it on trips which sucks if I don't push the dash button. I need the front port for charging other small things (or I would like to) and running a cable from the center console all the way to the rear isn't idea for sure.

Anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them.

 

I had the same problem, in Park, engine on, switch wouldn't light. I'd used it before so something happened. Just pulled the dash cover behind the switch and found it had come out of its power harness. Reconnected and we're back up and running. Will keep an eye on it going forward.

 

Did you ever figure this out? Exact same issue with Jackery 3000 Pro.
