Hello all! I recently sold my Jeep wrangler and put a deposit down on a 2024 4runner orp with kdss. I offroad and camp pretty frequently, however needed a larger vehicle that was more reliable. The vehicle that I put a deposit down on has pro wheels installed from port with the stock city tires. Due to using this for camping and general driving I will be putting on stock size AT toyos. I have read that even with a stock size AT they may rub in reverse. My question is this: I’ve read in one place that they have started trimming bumpers at port for any vehicle that comes with pro wheels (even if not a pro)…is this true? If not I guess I’ll have to muster up the courage to trim a brand new vehicle.

Welcome to the forum, just go with the flow, accept your vehicle as is, then adjust as you use it to your needs.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

You are right. Even stock tires will rub. The rubbing is minimal. It's only in reverse at full lock. I upgraded my tires to Falken's and noticed it right away, but again, ONLY in full lock while in reverse. You probably won't need to trim. Most camping sites/trails I have been on could be handled by a Honda Accord, so your 4Runner with 9 inches of ground clearance (even on the factory Dunlop street tires) should handle it with ease.

Before you decide to swap tires, test out the factory tires and find out how capable they are for your needs. I bet you'll find they meet your needs, but they won't "look" cool or agressive/tough.

Now, as to whether or not they're doing this at the port, I have no idea. But that doesn't sound like something Toyota would want to allow.

I have Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S stock size on Pro wheels, no rubbing.

My ORP came with Pro wheels and stock Nitto's, zero rub. I swapped the Nitto's for Wildpeaks (still stock size) and zero rub. Now once I swapped the wheels for Blaze 10's at 8.5" with -10 offset, yeah they rubbed. You will most likely be fine as long as you stick with stock size, and if any rub it should be very minimal. Good luck with the new ride.
