2 Weeks old and I got my first scratch!

Damn, only 2 weeks old and I got my first scratch! One of my club member buddies was loading popup shade tents from my side yard into his truck in the driveway when he scratched my 2 week old Ice Cap 4Runner! Just a slight scratch, but a scratch all the same! I'm looking on Amazon but don't see what looks to be authentic Toyota touch up paint. I'll give the local Toyota Dealership a call tomorrow. I used to be a auto detailer when I was a college student so I can fill in the scratch fairly well. Hopefully I will have a steady hand. (Age 71)

 

That sucks, sorry to hear. I got my touch up paint on Amazon but for super white (040). Not sure what the code is for ice cap but if it's new they may not have it yet and like you said, dealer will be best bet

I think you want the 040 Super White. They changed the name to Ice Cap, but I think it's the same paint as Super White. 077 is Starfire Pearl, so you don't want that.

A scratch is nothing, those can be touched up for $20. I got WORSE the first month I owned my SloRunner: Someone door dinged my rear passenger door. The ding was so bad you can see the tiny dent in the door. I'm too cheap to get a guy to repair it, but I should.

Instead it serves as a reminder to be cautious when parking next to others.

What about that stuff on the TV commercial where the man purposely scratches a new auto and squirts the shit on the auto, rubs it, and the scratches are gone. Surely they're not lying, (LOL).

 

I'm not sure what color code ice cap is - looks like others are saying it's the same as super white (040).

If that's the case, I bought a bottle of that off Amazon and it matches well. I used it to touch up rock chips on the hood every few months (before I got the bug deflector) and even used it to cover some really nasty rash on the rear bumper plastic when I took it off and rolled it on the driveway like an idiot changing the rear valance. Color matches well when properly shaken

 

I had dent wizard remove a large fender dent on my 2020. It cost me $250. Insurance wanted $750 at a body shop. Hell no!
The sheet metal on the 4runner is paper thin just like the paint

 

I paid about the same to have a door ding removed by a dent wizard type outfit. It’s on a black car, and the repair was essentially perfect. Good stuff.

The 4runner skin may be thin (ish), but I’d be willing to bet it’s nowhere near as thin as the incoming 6th gen!
