Air injection wire pulled away from clip!

Made a huge mistake. Changing my spark plugs and while removing the 2ndary air injection pump on the drivers side, I accidentally pulled out the wiring harness from the air pump connector. I’m afraid the dealer is going to want to replace the entire wiring harness. Does anyone have any advice for what to do next? Was thinking I could find another clip, but then I’d have to somehow install wiring into the new clip and maybe use a butt/splice connector to join the old wiring to new wiring+ clip. Thank you for any advice, stressin over here.

 

Did the pin come out with it? If so you can bend the lock back out a little and insert it into the proper terminal.

 

Not sure what pin there is, I’m basically looking 5 exposed wires and a connector free of those wires. if you mean the clamps around those wires from within that connector, unfortunately that didn’t come out w the wire.

The metal pin at the end. It locks into the terminal with a little bent piece of metal.

 

You could repin that pretty easily with the right crimp and pins.

 

Ooh ok those pins, I pulled them out of the connector to see about re-wiring but they are pretty mangled and crimped w existing broken wire. Do you know where I could find more just like that?

 

I don’t know the exact name of them but they are common.

You basically need this. Not all of the kit but it has the re-pin tool to make it easy.

These guys sell a pigtail for $25 that you can splice in

 

Your biggest issue is knowing which wire goes to which pin, hopefully someone with the same year model can post photos of their connector to help you with that.

 

After carefully removing the connector, you can remove the damaged pins using a small flat bladed jewelers screwdriver. If you haven’t done it before, you’ll find the video in the link below helpful. You may find evidence of what the wire color is at the crimp point. Suggest you take lots of photos and be patient.

Toyota sells repair pins with wires already crimped on if you don’t want to crimp them on yourself. Drawback is they are $10 each and only come in black, so purchasing the pigtail mentioned in the previous post might be the way to go. Advance Auto sells heavy duty butt splices to crimp the other end of the new wire to your injection pump harness.
