Opinions and help needed .. OR centercaps

I just got my centercaps for my trail edition rims and the ring around the top of it (and maybe also the sombrero) stand out, especially given I have black lug nuts.

First, I didn't see a poll option or I would have added one, paint them or leave them as they are? I'd try and paint them the color of the Toyota on the heritage grille or a bit darker. Like a dark brushed aluminum look if possible.

Second, I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to paint aluminum so that it will be as durable as possible and least likely to chip off.

Feel free to add your suggestions on painting (or not) and if you'd do that color to tie it in, or just a black or gunmetal, or just leave it alone and put them on.

Anodize the aluminum rings black. The coating will hold up better than paint.

 

There used to be a fellow on here, @Andres, that provided anodized aluminum devil horns emblems, and I ordered a modified version without the horns:



It turned out to be a bit off color, though, and I ended up painting it a metallic silver with clearcoat (the photos don't really do it justice):




Point is, I was able to paint over the anodizing (which is the best solution) to get it the color I wanted. I believe you could successfully paint those rings if you prep them well...

 

I honestly wish someone just made a flat circle to replace the center cap. I like the look without but don't want sand getting anywhere it could cause issues out in the desert.

 

Totally agree. I like flat caps as well.

 

The center cap is purely cosmetic, doesn't keep sand/dirt out of anything.

With the plastic Toyota emblem removed, you can always just apply a vinyl decal of your choice, TRD/TEQ/F-Sport/Magpul...
