Hey all, I want to share my discovery here, as I’m sure that this could happen on other 5th gens!

An annoying squeak developed in the front end of my T4R while driving. I was able to duplicate the squeak while the vehicle was parked, by bouncing the front end up and down by hand by lifting the vehicle some at the front wheels and releasing to let the suspension drop back down again.

I was able to trace the squeak to the hood rubbing the two black rubber bump stops at and right front and left front corners! With the hood raised the squeaking noise was absent when I bounced the front end up and down!

I spritzed the tops of the black rubber bump stops with some WD 40, closed the hood, and bounced the front of the vehicle up and down again, and also test drove it, and the noise was gone. Thank goodness- a super simple fix. If the squeaking returns, I’ll try applying a more substantial / thicker lubricant on those rubber bump stops- maybe dab some white grease on them.

Man am I glad I figured it out. Hope this may be of some help to others.

Thanks for the tip. Hope I don’t have to chase down any squeaks anytime soon

Did you try turning the bumps up about 1/2 turn?
You could try adjusting them a little and see if the squeaks go away. Keep in mind the hood to fender fit.

Also, if you prefer the lube scenario, I would use silicone spray on rubber instead of WD40.
    But that's me...

Adjust them. Don't put anything on them. It would most likely damage the paint.

That kind of thing is supremely annoying and very satisfying when you figure it out. Maybe use some kind of silicone like the stuff for tires?

Thanks Saker. If the squeaking returns, I'll try adjusting the stops up 1/2 turn, and / or neatly and carefully applying some silicone or a small dab of white grease on the rubber stops.
